Well, today, I battled my friend George with my mech BA army (including 2 Furioso Dreads with AV13).
His army really had a hard time vs. them, since his units came close before he was able to destroy them.
One highlight was the killing of the Chronos by one of my Furioso with blood talons in the round the Chronos charged into the melee.

How can DE destroy Dreads before DE units get stuck with them?
Have we overlooked something?

Dark lances reduce any armor over 12 to 12 when rolling to glance and penetrate. That could've been it. Either way, I think he simply didn't have enough anti tank. You treat walkers like any other vehicle you don't want close. He should hit it with dark lances, or if it is in a storm raven, then he should hit that and make the thing walk, giving him a few more turns to pick at it. He also has extremely high mobility with his army (as do you but slightly less so) so he should do his best to keep his units running circles around said dreadnought.

My two cents.

As a dark eldar player I personally despise any and all dreadnoughts because I can never roll good on the damage chart against them. The best way for us imo to destroy dreads is with a good ol' fashion lance gunline. Make them do all the movement and you should get more shots.

10x this. I can't blow the stupid things up regardless of how many times I penetrate it w/ Dark lances.

DE have to stun and run from them. My friend runs a BA list that had 2 Dreds deployed via Storm Ravens and I haven't had much trouble against them.

You don't really have to blow them up. A simple stunned result is pretty horrid for them. Immobilized is as good as dead because they are assault based. Finally, you can just avoid them unless they come in via pod or Raven. They are so slow.

They are so slow.

Not really, if mounted in a Stormraven. Moreover, Furioso Dreads can have wings and DE has barely psychic defense.

If you can shoot down the Raven many times they will be stranded. Furioso Librarians aren't too great. They are much less scary than the blood talons. If it does get close, it will likely rip through MSUs and be shot the next turn.

Oh yes, I know. It's just aggravating when you shoot them, penetrate, and the only thing you ever roll is 1's and 2's on the damage chart. They're good enough results and you move on, but when you've killed everything else on the board and you have nothing left to shoot at but the dreads.... and you still can't blow it up.... it's aggravating. Has happened to me several times. I think it's just in my head though. AV10, 11, 12, 13, 14, the dice all work the same. Mention that it's a dread... and the damage dice stop working properly. I think my dice are just scared of dreads.

You should always try to shoot them. If not, a last resort is to tarpit them with wyches with Haywires. A unit of wyches with 2 shardnets should slow it down some...though I wouldn't necessarily recommend that as a viable main tactic...more of a back up plan. Shooting is ultimately the best way. Talos with TL heatlance and Chain Flails has a good chance at knocking them down. Str7+2d6 per hit isn't too shabby..and a BC dreadnought only wounds on 5's. Just make sure you charge first.

I find a unit of Scourges with haywire blasters to be a good counterpunch to dreadnoughts.

One of my funniest moments was my friend playing DA got three pens with dark lances and rolled all 1's

I regularly play my two furiosos against dark eldar. Squads of wyches with haywire grenades really bog them down and destroy them. Once a dread is stunned or immobilized the grenades hit on fours instead of sixes.

A glance that results in immobilized, weapon destroyed, or stunned will reduce the number of attacks.

Plus they all have that invulnerable save in CC to deal the dreads remaining attacks.

Charging the Furioso with a Cronos was a bad idea. It's on S5; even with the MC extra penetration die, he needs an 8 on two dice to get a glance. A Talos would do much better as it only needs a 6 on two dice to get a glance, and has the chance to have more attacks than the Cronos.

Haywire wyches aren't a terrible idea because of the invulnerable save.

Shooting is still the best bet. So far in the games I've played against BA with my DE, I haven't had a single Dread get into CC with me.

Well, that's what we thought. The only means DE has in cc are MCs or haywire grenades.
In the former edition, the agonizer was able to inflict glancing hits, but that has been removed.

My opponent actually had a Talos but I shot it down before it was able to hit my front ranks.
