So down where I am there is an escalation league starting up. The first level is 750 points. I'm trying to come up with a list that seems like it can win but also has a bit of theme to it and is fun to play.
So far its:

Company Command squad with a Las Cannon. [70]

Infantry Platoon
Platoon command squad with an Auto Cannon [40]
Infantry squad with a power weapon and meltagun [70]
Infantry squad with a power weapon and Meltagun and attached Commissar with a Power weapon. [115]

10 Rough Riders [105]

So far that is only 625 points if my math is right and its 67 models. Not sure where to spend the rest of those FOC slots and points but its a start.
Was Hoping you folks could give me some feedback. I have some heavy weapons teams Armored sentinels a devildog and more warm bodies I could add. I also have some storm troopers and Marbo kicking around.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Never been a huge fan of roughriders. I think that you'd be better off with more bodies in the platoons, most likely in the shape of HWS. I'd also suggest switching the PCS to have 4 flamers as it makes a good support unit for the blobs themselves. Lastly, something big and angry (such as a russ) wouldn't go amiss either.

Just my 2 cents

What about this? http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/343743.page#2395511

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32

I would avoid trolling for your thread on someone else's thread.

You have two special weapon slots empty on the CCS, as well with the PCSs. Guard should avoid having empty slots as they are very valuable. I also have to agree with Orkboy on the flamers in the PCS.

I play Rough Riders alot, and they are pretty devastating if used right. If your experienced with them, I suggest two squads of 5. This gives you more tactical flexibility as each squad can tear up a unit. You can either hold them behind your troops to allow them to get into position for a charge or suicide them ahead to take fire and distract your foe from your blobs. Either way, two 5 man squads are better than one 10 man squad for this.

If you have points left, get a AC HWS, plant it next to your CCS (or within 12") and use "Bring it Down!" on both the HWS and the CCS. Use the HWS to camp a home objective, as it is scoring. Your Orders are not going to be successful very often, but you have two of them and it is better than nothing if you run into MCs and vehicles.

If you find you have 20pts left over, buy meltabombs for your Sergeants in your blobs for Walker melee defence (well, a chance). It also gives you a chance to finish off vehicles if say you roll bad and only stun them or something.

I think you have a pretty good core list there that can do some damage.

Thanks for the feedback Folks.
@ Imperial Commander I want to keep my forces mobile so I'm going to not opt for the heavy weapons in my line squads. If I have an extra 10 points I might toss some mortars in them though.

@BlkTom lot of good input for me to go over. I'll have to look and see if I can find another 5 points to split up the riders. I generally have never run them smaller than 7 per squad. The slots of the CCS and PCS are empty as I was trying to trim points and use those as more of a fire base. I probably will swap at least one PCS over to quad flamer as it is really good.
I'll fidget with some numbers and try to get a revised list up soon.

Cheers,
~Volkan

Here are my suggestions. That CCS should take a MoO. 30 points for, essentially, a less accurate basilisk. In a foot slogging list, he is almost crucial. My suggestion would be to have both PCS be mobile order spewing monsters while your CCS takes the heavy weapons, a Regimental standard (Essentially getting reroll morale within 12 inches and uses the Commanders LD, but I may be mistaken) and a MoO. Marbo is a solid choice. In any game. At any point level. He is 65 points for something to die. I prefer scout sentinels to armored, but thats your call. I would cut the rough riders and give your PCS chimeras, but again, its your call.
