Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

So, I've been trying to sell my IG army for about a year no with no success :(, so I figured I'd restart playing some 40k until either someone comes along and buys it, or I fall back in love with 40k. I am pretty sure (judging by some other lists) that vet spam is still the way to go. With out further adieu, here is my first attempt at a semi-comp list -

HQ

Command with melta x4 (CO has bolter/power fist [power fists on guard make me giggle] and melta bombs)

Troops

Vet Squad w/ 3 meltas
Vet Squad w/ 3 plasmas
Vet Squad w/ 3 plasmas
Vet Squad w/ 2 Flames 1 H. Flame

Fast

Hellhound

Heavy

3 LRBC w/ lascannons (2 with HB sponsons 1 with none)
1 Demolisher w/ lascannon (no sponsons)
1 Executioner w/ lascannon (double plasma sponsons)

Transport

Chimera x 5 w/ ML/HF and extra armor

Total Cost 1997

Although I am not a fan of grouping up my tanks like that, I want to be able to use all them. Also, I am not hell bent on that...hell hound (cwutididthar).. I would rather not use it as a *counts as* chimera for another vet squad, but I am open to other suggestions. I've got plenty more troops, a few more spec weapons, voxes, some heavy weapons and a bassie if anyone wants to shout something out. I don't have an vendetta's and no I am not going to buy any :-p .

Thanks all, in advance, for any comments.

Well, can't give orders to units in vehicles, so don't do Voxs. I would suggest ditch the flamer squad and just stick to the hull heavy flamers. Put meltas in the Vet squad. If anything, use the Hell hound for what it does best... burning troops out of cover. I also would be tempted on removing the sponsons on the Russes, as you can only fire one weapon and the turret when you move, and (nearly) everyone considers sponsons as two weapons, not one. I would also remove the extra armor from the Chimeras... use those points and get a Vet squad with Sentries, plasma, and a heavy weapon to camp your rear objective, if any since you don't have any more Chimeras.

I agree with BlkTom on this one. You could also consider an infantry platoon at higher points levels to act as said objective campers

Just my 2 cents

Vets with meltas, along with a ccs with meltas, all in chimeras is a solid task force.

Now... Remember that the hellhound will be limited becaquse there's only one. It can be easily singled out. I'd suggest dropping a russ, adding another hellhound, meltas to all the vets, power weapons, shotguns, and an infantry blob.

Load the blob with a commie or two, power weapons, flamers, and meltas, and make the platoon command squad all flamers. Your Pcs will be able to soften incoming infantry, and give orders. The blob can camp an objective, or shoot at the tasty bits that the vets blow out of their transports.
