What paints would you think are the best to paint Salamander Space Marines in, P3 paints or GW?

Well I think P3 paints are far superior in general, but GW has a better selection of greens to work with if you are doing Salamanders.

Honestly, I have yet to be impressed with P3 after all the talk I heard.

Their gray separates (into a blue and a gray) when you water it down. Their Khador Red I also don't think is any better than Blood Red in terms of how many quotes it requires to come out strong (neither is good for that... the GW foundation red is excellent though).

I also know P3 had to pull one of their gold for quite a while and in general have some issues with their metallic colors.

Bottom line: YMMV, but my vote between the two goes to GW.

If you want an official Salamanders paint scheme, go with the GW (or matching Valejio). I use a wide mixture of of GW and P3 paints and I love the P3 paints, but their metallics are not as good as GW's. And GW washes and foundation colors are terrific.

But if you want a studio matching Salamanders scheme, go with GW as the P3 colors will be a bit different.

I prefer GW paints, I get color schemes out of white dwarf and the GW website so I just like to use their paints

Whatever looks better to you. And if it's all the same, whatever is cheaper.

May I ask why Vallejo and Reaper are not part of the options?

Vallejo Model color has a huge selection and I prefer them to others. GW makes a good silver range, and the washes and foundations are nice, but that's about it.

Agreed, even if Vallejo or Reaper paints weren't better than GW (which they are), I would still buy them because they come in a dropper bottle.

A dropper bottle makes paints easier to mix, last longer, and spillproof.

I agree with Kerminsr, I've picked up some Vallejo paints here and there, and the dropper top is great for mixes.

Personally I've transferred all of my GW paints and washes into dropper bottles as they are worlds better than what GW calls proper paint storage.
