Hey all, my club doesn't allow special characters and need to see if there are any competitive builds that don't revolve around characters (Crowe and Coteaz). Any ideas?
i was thinking of mass terminators but from what i've seen that'd be absolutely useless, my new build for GK didn't exactly set the world a light

Normal Librarians and Grand Masters are very effective high end HQs. Grand Masters can be scary in personal combat and bring awesome grenades, as well as making Dreadnoughts, Dreadknights, and other good Elite/Heavy choices Scouting or scoring.

Librarians have a fistful of great powers and can seriously undermine enemy shooting and assault lanes. Quicksilver, Might of Titan, The Shrouding, and Sanctuary are a great loadout. Combined with Strike Squads you can seriously disrupt any attempt to get into midfield. For the points cost, Terminators are not all that efficient compared to Strike squads.

A Grand Master plus a Xenos inquisitor can let you bring a bare minimum of Strike Squads, load up on scary elites, and not worry overmuch about scoring, while having a nice cheap henchman band to fill gaps in your roster. Bring some psyfleman dreads, some additional armor, and that should be the skeleton of a take all comers.

There are many good builds with no SC's. Libbies are a very good choice as are GM's. Experiment around using them.

You can use a Grandmaster or an Inquisitor (or both) as your primary HQ and attach them either to a unit of Paladins or Purifiers in a Land Raider of some sort (Redeemer most likely). From there, take Strike Squads and Psyfleman Dreads as you see fit.

If you prefer, you could play a Deep Strike list with 2x Inquisitors and a bunch of Strike Squads. Give the Inquisitors each Psychic Communion and 3x Servo Skulls, then load up on Strike Squads and possibly Interceptors. The Inquisitors deploy on the board out of LoS of the enemy, and with 2x successful casts of Psychic Communion, everything in your army will arrive via Deep Strike on a 2+ on turn 2, and only scatter 1D6 if within 6" of a Servo Skull.

If either of those sounds interesting I could provide examples if you can give me a rough points level to work within.

Both libbys have might of titan and warp rift. the level three also has shrouding.

I like to charge in with the ravens quickly. then deposit everyone as close as possible to the enemy.
So far I have lost to BA, tied a vanilla marine, and beaten another vanilla marine and necrons.

Here is My idea for a list

HQ Librarian
Might, Quicksilver, Sanctuary Shrouding.

HQ Inquisitor with Termi Armor and Psycannon

Elite: Henchmen 3x Meltaguns in a Chimera

Troops: 10 man Strike Squads with 2x Psycannons and Psybolt Ammo, (maybe a MC hammer) in Rhinos

Elite/Heavy: Psy Rifle Dreads of either the Venerable or non venerable variety.

Librarian and Inquisitor can ride in the Chimera with the henchmen.
They stay in the center of the force. Might and Quicksilver have a 6" range so they can be cast on nearby strike squads. Then on the enemy turn you cast Sanctuary and Shrouding.

Strike Squads shoot stuff, and can be buffed by the librarian for combat as needed.

The Dreads shoot stuff down, and the Henchmen are there for a last ditch effort against AV14 if you need it.

I'd take a Xenos type Inquisitor with rad and psychostroke grenades.
Stick her to a full squad of Termies. Ouch!

When I use the GM I always give him the sword so my CC saves are 2+, 3++. I also give him the level 2 mastery and Psycostroke grenades.

i gave a brotherhood champion a shot today just for a laugh playing a fists army with lysander, he and four terminators charged my brotherhood champion OM inquisitor and 4 death cult assassins. they all had TH SS so going first my brotherhood champion and death cults killed 3 termies and my inquisitor putting a wound on lysander (i know right ). they then attacked back killing 3 death cult assassins and lysander killed my brotherhood champion. i then rolled a 3 for his heroic sacrifice dragging lysander with me into the pit. won the game overall it was annhilation and won 6-3
