Hey. I need help with Tyranids. I hope this is where this topic goes.
I know we need 1 HQ and 2 troops to play.. actually I dont know, i think...
What are good HQ choices and troops? I want an army with the most figures on the table as possible, i want a real horde-fleet-thing.. whatever it's called. any general tips would be appreciated a lot. thanks guys, happy gaming

The best list for the Tyranids is Tervigon spam. You can take a squad of about 10 Termagaunts and a Tervigon with a Tyranid Prime or Tervigon HQ choice. The point of Tervigon spam is to just keep producing more termagaunts and just swarm your opponent with them. Only problem is when you roll doubles on the dice. I hope this little bit helps.

If you want swarms, use gaunts and warriors. Gaunts are your troops, but warriors can be troops and/or HQ. Genestealers a good troop choice as well for close combat.

Tervigons and hormagunts, with some gaunts thrown in. Add some flying ripper swarms (for even more swarms) and a monstrous creature or two and your in business.

How about this (just an idea)

1x Hive Tyrant

3x 16 hormogants
1x 12 turmogants (sp?)
2x 8 genestealers

maybe the turmogants (sp?) could stay with the Hive Tyrant and the others charge? Thats a small army (I think)

Maybe also have a couple ripper swarms?

I really like the look of Trygons and their background (fluff?)
Trygon
The Trygon is a colossal snake-like Tyranid that, when in its upright posture, stands taller than most Tyranid organisms, even the mighty Carnifex. Its body is covered from head to tail with shifting plates of heavy armour, and yet remains incredibly flexible and agile. The creature is able to build up a massive bio-static charge, in these plates, by agitating them as it moves, and then release this energy in a highly lethal discharge.

As if that wasn't enough, the Trygon also comes armed with sets of swift and deadly scything talons and are strong enough to cut through even the heaviest armoured vehicles. The scything talons are not only fearsome weapons, but they allow this monstrous beast to burrow through the hardest of surfaces and create a network of tunnels, before bursting from the ground to inflict devastating attacks on warriors and tanks above. Other Tyranid creatures will often use the network of tunnels left by a Trygon to move unseen underneath the battle above, and the emergence of a Trygon is usually followed by a horde of other smaller organisms.
that sounds super cool!

What do you think of the battleforce? The staff at Gamesworkshop (I went a few times before deciding to play) always try to convince me to buy the expensive stuff, is it a rip-off or is it actually good?

Thanks for all the responses by the way, you're great (all of you)!

Tervigon sounds cool too, but it seems kinda.. Cheap? Maybe if my army gets big I'll have that also, but I want a real army first. No offense! Thanks a lot for sharing the idea
