Yo,
As far is my history with
40k, I'll just quote myself from
this thread

Once, with a group of friends, we decided to draft up ideas for super soldiers... needless to say, we were the cool kids in class. The next day, my friend comes in with genetically altered super humans in power armor, wielding bolters, sired by the Emperor of Mankind. It was pretty clear that he hadn't come up with all of that on his own, and he told me that they were Space Marines...
I drifted away from the hobby over the years, but now I'm getting back in the game. What got me into it this time? I almost took up 40K again when I was playing DoW online with friends, but it didn't quite stick. The Horus Heresy series finally got me back into the hobby (this must be sweet, sweet music to GW's ears). I've been collecting the books since the series started, but I only just began reading them... I'm behind the curve, I know. I'm now caught up with the series, but I knew halfway through Horus Rising that it was time to get back into 40K. I've been lurking forums, reading codices and rulebooks, and I'll be purchasing my first new set of models in over a decade tomorrow.
I'm starting from scratch, which is tough. I'm trying to figure out what sort of army I want to collect, but trying to balance fluff, play style, and aesthetics (considering that I have no talent for painting) has proven difficult. My goal is to put together a 750-point army over the summer (it'll take me a while as I don't like to be hasty about these things). I've narrowed the scope to Blood Angels or Space Wolves (I started with Eldar, and now I'm rolling
SM... ouch). I'm looking to put together a solid army to learn the game, and I think that some sort of Marine army would be good for those purposes.
Considering fluff, play style, and aesthetics, I'm leaning heavily toward Space Wolves. Sometime tonight, I plan to work up a 750-point
SW list and post it here for feedback.
What up, Dakka?
