White Dwarf Notice

In order to align product releases globally, White Dwarf will be on sale on the last Saturday of each month (ie White Dwarf August will be for sale on July 30th). In-store subscribers will also be able to pick up their magazine at the store on that Saturday.

In-home subscriptions will be shipped on the last Saturday of each month (ie White Dwarf August will ship on July 30th). You can expect to see your copy of White Dwarf within ten days from shipment.

If you have any questions or don't receive your White Dwarf within ten days from the last Saturday of the month, please call Customer Service at 1-800-394-4263 or email custserv@games-workshop.com.

This will go into effect for August's White Dwarf #379.

Basically instead of getting the issue early or roughly on time like most real magazines, you will now get them late. Way to reward your fans GW.

I would assume their reasoning is that now that WD is the primary source of new product info they're controlling early leaks.

When my subscription lapses in December I will not renew.

Not even sure if I'll buy it after 21 years of getting it every month. :(

Well said. I've been a subscriber for about 2 decades, but if this is the way we're to be treated then when my current subscription ends that may be the end of that relationship for the foreseeable future. The subscribers are the people who give GW money up front for EVERY issue and as such we should be getting premium service, not "sloppy seconds" type treatment.

Perhaps the new marketing strategy is sloppy seconds; as in the Finecast rejects they send out to the public are not the perfect ones taken right from the assembly line and given to GW employees to paint and put on their Facebook page to mock us.

Yeah. I'm sure that's the reason.

Remember what I've been saying about people being more ready to accept bad news when they're told the truth? Yeah. GW needs to learn that. People are way too savvy when it comes to spin these days.

And well done, GW, I say!

Every day, people who work for companies that are stuck in the '90s die because of lazy shoppers ordering things over the internet. But you can make a difference. By just walking into your store and buying your White Dwarf over the counter instead of having it mailed to you, you can make a difference to the life of some poor soul who works for a company that is irrevocably stuck in the '90s.

It may not seem like a lot to you, but investing that little bit of money into an outmoded business model instead of supporting new technologies that make life easier for us all can mean all the difference between having a store just up the road that does absolutely nothing to support your hobby, and that store being gone forever.

The sad part insaniak is that there are people here who fully agree with what you just said, and would miss the sarcasm...

Fortunately my local stores support my hobby pretty well and I in turn try and support them. We spend money there and I do my best to help build the hobby community at the stores. This White Dwarf thing isn't about the stores at all for me. I've been getting WD mailed to my home for 20 years and if suddenly GW doesn't value that particular piece of my business then I will likely withhold it.
