Subject: VIDEO BATTLE REPORT: 1850pt Blood Angels vs Dark Eldar
Nice report, and I definitely like your Dark Eldar paintjobs. Very dynamic!
One thing I'd like to point out is that the Death Company and their Dreadnought could not possibly have embarked on the Stormraven again. Due to Rage, they MUST move as fast as possible toward the closest enemy unit in Line of Sight. The only way they can choose their own movement (and thus embark in a transport) is if they do not have Line of Sight to any enemy models. Even if the Stormraven moves first and everyone is within 2" of the base, they cannot choose to embark because that is not "moving as fast as possible toward the closest enemy unit.
That could potentially have given you a bit more flexibility on exactly when and how you decided to engage the Death Company.

no?
Well, in theory yes, but in practice that's extremely difficult to do. The Rage USR requires that the unit move as fast as possible toward the closest enemy unit, and so you would have to determine who is closes before moving the Stormraven, then move it in such a way that a 6" move toward that unit puts all models in the Death Company within 2" of the base of the Stormraven, which is a very difficult task when you are not allowed to pre-measure anything. The only way I would think this could be accomplished is if the Death Company disembarked the Stormraven, then on the next turn the Stormraven moves exactly 6" directly toward the closest enemy unit. The Death Company could then move 6" toward the same unit and end up surrounding the Stormravens base (basically the same position they were in after disembarking, but 6" closer to an enemy), allowing them to embark on the transport after finishing their move. That did not seem to be the case in your game. It looked as if the unit and the Stormraven stood in place and the unit re-embarked, which is impossible because they would be REQUIRED to move 6" toward the closest enemy in Line of Sight, thus putting them outside of the 2" embarkation range.

Why would you have to move/rage the DC Before you moved the storm raven into thier path? He moved the stormraven directly into the path of the DC to closest enemy they could see, then he raged the DC, and at the end of thier move they embarked into the transport that they were all withen range to do so.
Im sure it works this way, as I am the donkey-cave that makes him work out these shennanigans or else I kill his gak or lead it in randomness. Much harder with a land raider, thats why he uses the storm raven. (Not to mention the Dread riding along.)
right?
Automatically Appended Next Post: The stormraven flyer base is HUGE compared to a unit of guys, its really not hard to drop it directly in thier path and force them to move in a way that allows them to embark. Land Raider more difficult because of terrain, Rhinos not so much but they die.

Rage is really played wrong. Your UNIT must move as far as possible towards the closest enemy. That doesn't mean every model must move that way. Grab the closest guy, move him 6" towards the enemy. Now your unit has moved so that it's closer. Keep coherency with a couple of guys and now the rest can go however they like.
So just move the stormraven so that when the one guy that's REQUIRED to pull your unit towards the closest enemy moves he's within range to embark, and move the others where they need to be to join in.
