What days (if any) are set aside for 40k at your local games store? Mine has a club night on Wednesday and Thursday. I wondered about this question since I noticed that the boards seem to die down during the weekends, and I thought maybe that was when most games stores had wargaming day (or night). If it is more than one day, check all that apply.

I'm the only one who organizes the 40k stuff at my FLGS. We stick to tuesday and fridays. Luckily the only people at my FLGS that play warmachine are... how should I put it... disgruntled 40k players who still play 40k.

Yu-Gi-Oh is banned at our games store, and in a lot of public places around where I live. (Somehow banning Yu-Gi-Oh players seemed to have a dramatic impact on the rate of shoplifting and other assorted crimes...) But despite kicking the cardboard heroin habit some years ago, I am glad for the Magic players. God knows I don't spend enough on 40k to keep the store open. If the habits of a bunch of children and social reprobates keeps the place I occasionally play 40k open, I am all for it.

Huh, and I thought Yu-Gi-Oh thiefs were semi-unique to my area. I didn't realize being a Yu-Gi-Oh player anywhere meant being a thief. Kind of funny. Now if anyone tells me they play that game, I'll automatically assume they are a thief and need to be purged. Calling the inquisition on any Yu-Gi-Oh players from now on.

On topic, my store USED to have warhammer fridays. Until I was asked to resign/leave and nobody there knew how to play. Since then, warhammer models have sat on the shelf, customers don't get any assistance with warhammer and I've been asked to go back in and teach the manager. Too bad I'm always too busy...
Well, now there are no warhammer days. It's always Magic days or board game days: the only things the owner likes. Store has gone to poo, and I've had many people tell me so since I left.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I think there is something about Card games that turns people into monsters.

maybe its the imitation cards made in china. the Illegalness causes their minds to turn.

with Wargames, we put lots of sweat and tears(and sometimes blood) into our hobby. it also takes some real skill and isn't just who has the newest and biggest toys.

At my FLGS Tuesdays is Fantasy, Wednesdays is 40K, Thursday is Warmahordes, Friday is Magic, and Saturdays are Tournament days. Sundays are beginner days(meant for people who want demo games, the website even has a forum to set these up with experienced players). Mondays are usually closed, but for the summer the store is now open(I guess all those young highschool kids need something to do), and it's open gaming.

You know, I remember when it was all nazi tattoos and dangerous weapons that would get you asked to leave a public place. Now apparently there's roving gangs of Yu-Gi-Oh players. I'm just picturing this group of them shaking down old ladies for money for more cards. How the times have changed.

The new local upstart store plays on Thursdays and Saturdays. The one that's been around longer plays on Tuesdays. I don't get to either nearly as much as I'd like to.

My local doesn't have a 40k day... combined with the fact that the nearest gw won't let me play due to my models not being painted to their level and I don't flock my bases (god I hate that >.< I didn't play a game for 4-7 months after I got everything.

Wait, your Games Workshop won't let you play because your models aren't painted, or not painted as well as they want them? And the unflocked bases thing is ridiculous.

Normally Thursdays but now they expanded it to Mondays as well so I can have a double injection of plastic crack games per week

Too bad I won't be doing any of it until the Summer is over due to animation pre-college course and snazzy vacation time in Florida and Italy. Actually, why was it too bad again?

It's hard to say really, our store charges ten dollars once a year to enter the league that lasts for a year and gives you a discount. Now the bonus of charging this is that you don't get kids/jerkwads breaking your models as well as very nice terrain. It could be a flue though, the last two stores I played at didn't charge. One was so spare on terrain they were using felt pads : ( and the other was ALL 40K POWER GAMING ALL THE TIME! They were the type to pick up a friendly game, ask you what you were playing and then build their list to counter your own.

well, thats different. you are basically paying to enter a closed gaming enviroment and recieve a benifit(which could be a discount or a prize)

we charge for tournaments here to fund the prizes.

we don't charge to play a pick up game. thats just wrong.

Here it is mainly Saturdays, but certainly not exclusive to 40k. Some people play on Sundays, some Fridays. It is open tables, first come first served, so whatever games people want to play on whatever days.

My store has a league, which you have to play to enter, but you can play without being a member. Being a member just gives you certain perks (being able to stay in the store after hours, garuanteed entry into events, etc). Seems kinda weasel-y to make you pay to play. Funny, didn't Blagojevich just get into trouble for that kind of attitude?
