I like how the dozer blade looks on my vindicator model and was thinking about putting them on my other SM tanks. I noticed Forgeworld sells dozer blades for exactly what I am looking for but short of paying 16 USD per blade I am looking for alternatives. I have searched other Bits stores (the ones posted in the resources) and they are all fresh out. I have searched in the tutorial forums but didn't find anything. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good custom built dozer blade methods and materials. I have 8 vehicles that I am looking at mounting these on with magnets. Any ideas would be very helpful

Also, as an aside, the blade that comes with the vindicator is actually a siege shield and not a dozer blade.

This is what I am looking for however I would prefer not to do shipping overseas.

yeah I noticed that but since I play dark angels I don't have siege shields only dozer blades.

Ah, well I unfortunately do not know of anywhere domestic that makes third party blades or any bits shops that currently have the IG ones.

As for the siege shield thing, I figured as much, CSMs are the same way, I simply like to share my trivial knowledge on the off chance that it comes in handy ;-)

You can get on eBay and look for IG dozer blades. Just search for "40k dozer" and you should see several. I got the Basalisk blades for my Marine tanks.

You could try some very large diameter plastic pipe (plumbing supplies?) and then force-mould thin plastcard to it to get the details. It would be a bit fiddly and might take a few tries to get right, but it would work. You could probably use sprue off-cuts to get the "teeth" and to attach it to the tank.

Seconding the idea of using Chimera dozer blades. They're almost exactly like that, and you could probably use plasticard to beef up the sides to look like the FW ones.

I have found a small container that i am not using that will be sacrificed to make blades. It has the right dimensions and curves to make a good blade. i'll post pictures of one of the blades as soon as I get it made.

4-6 thick plasticard struts carved with identical curves on them. Thin sheet plasticard on that. Couple more layers of thin sheet for detail and frame with thicker stuff, then get larger square rods, cut/carve to desired shape of prods/whatevertheyrecallits as well and install. that is the ONLY way you will pay less than $16 USD/blade + Shipping.

I managed to get some cheap blades from children's toys. You can find almost any style blade, drill, arm, whatever you need, in almost any size, and usually out of plastic so it's not too difficult to convert.

I just keep an eye out at rubbish sales and typically come away with at least three or four vehicle for less than ten USD that I then convert or take a bit or two off of and set aside. Keep your eyes open!

Here is what I've got so far. I sprayed it black to make it easier to see.
Spoiler:

So far I have 2 (one with and one without dark angels symbol) there is a comparison to the vindicator shield that I modeled it after. So far i am happy with what they look like but i need to make a few tweaks here and there to get it right as well as adding some plastic to the bottom.

C&C?

I reccomend grabbing a file or something to straigthten out some of the edges, and working the vision slits into the blade. Looking good so far.

you will still have to get some styrene and cut it up into the prongs for the bottom.
