Magnets and a metal toolbox for me. $25 toolbox and $0.10 per magnet per model, think about even 150+model goblin, skaven or empire army is only gonna run you $40. Magnetized the trays for really easy deployment. And best off no pressure at all on the models. Here is a good guide: http://www.stephane.info/show.php?code=army_transport I would advoid the magnetic sheeting on all but the movement trays.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I've not used the tool box. I use a sertaline tub with sheets of steel cut for the bottom. A bit cheaper I'd imagine.

I forget which exact one i used(becasue i bought them a while ago and am at work now) but its black and says battle platoon, and you can get bigger division ones, and you can buy foam, works pretty well for me, not that efficient though

I agree stick them into a rubbermaid container, you could use even sever tiers/levels using wood columns that are screwed into one side of the sheet metal and magnatized on the other. That way you can have different size levels. Monsters and larger creatures at the bottom/taller level.

How is their pluck foam for dealing with pointy spears and getting the most out of the foam?

Most of my 1500 dwarf force fits snugly into a second hand GW small carry case. Plus paint pots and brushes/hobby knight and glues. Its great having smaller scale models and smaller elite armies for the lack of required transporting space.

Do you often fit 2 dwarves per slot? (base to base like I was suggested for my skaven?)

Base at top and bottom of the slot and lie them so they go side by side. The wonders of shorter than average models!

I've got a whole bunch of aluminium KR cases. They keep my army safe, hold loads, and look frickin' awesome. People regularly compliment them. They are often surprised to hear that they contain war dollies. I've got one sitting behind me right now at work, in fact, ready for a game of Warmachine tonight.

I use a big sterilite tub to lug them around, because it has wheels on one end, and they are in a couple of those cheap wal-mart gun cases for the most part, though some are also in a deep tackle box tray. I think that the whole lot cost be about $50.

I have several armies that are all magnetized and never, and I mean, never have any problems staying put or getting broken. Here is a rundown:
23" toolbox from Walmart- 10-15 dollars.
1' wide magnetic strip (it's rolled up) from Hobby Lobby- 4.99 (you can add a 40% off coupon easy too)
5/8 washers from Ace Hardware - box of 100 for 2.99
balsa wood from hobby lobby - 3.99 (40% off coupon, of course)
So I make all of my movement trays to fit every unit out of the balsa wood. After the movement tray is constructed, I super glue strips of the magnetic strip onto the whole tray. I then use my hot glue gun to glue a piece of balsa wood, followed by a 5/8 washer on the bottom of a minature. I then place all of my models onto their movement trays and put them in their toolbox, along with the dice, templates, etc. And nothing ever moves. I can even hold all of my models upside down with no worries of them coming off. For the big models, I buy the appropriate sized washer and place a small strip of magnetic strip in the box and it stays put too. This works well with metal models too. I can literally get my army out of the box and ready to play in less than one minute. It makes everything more convenient. Which, at this day and age, convenience is key! Thanks Dakka

I use an army case that's produced by Crystal Caste. It's nice-looking, and comes with four 1" and two 2" pluck-foam trays. Easily carries my 3000 points of dwarves, plus my Warmachine miniatures, the core rule book, my dwarf army book, with enough space for my M:TG decks, dice, templates, etc., and it only cost me about $50.

This, with a few modifications for the lazy may be a good way to go... Next time I get some money I may give this a go. Any idea how to do raiders and the ilk for DE though? there is an aqkward bit just about everywehre I turn...

Bleh, raiders...The only thing I can think is to not glue them to the bases and maybe lay them down in a box. The good thing they have going in the new DE line is that many of the models are plastic to that's helpful with there are awkward pieces sticking out everywhere. Let me know if you come up with anything...

I use the hollowed out corpse of my enemy. JK, but on a more serious note I play O&G so they aren't painted incredibly well and thus are mostly in a race pile in a tool box and for my OK I don't have a huge army so I just use the GW foam that you can remove the smaller bits. I have to use the vehicle sized one so they can stand up since I am paranooid that their arms will break off.
