I recently have a tournament coming up where we have 1500 points to spend,

we can not alter our army through the tournament and must stick with the same army list the whole way through...

therefore i need a close combat elite choice and I'm stuck between my scorpions and banshees and i dont have any harlequins so..

BANSHEES

OR

SCORPIONS?

A Banshee squad backed up by Doom are usually pretty effective at killing things

Depends how much power armour you see in your meta, really. Banshees for MEQ, Scorpions for hordes.

Yeah! but if i get a horde arm say tyranids they might struggle a bit!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I was edging towards banshees as most players tend to play some sort of marines!

I say go with Banshees then. They'll still have some use against a horde if well supported, and will tear through high save infantry like nobody's business. Plus they're cooler.

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

If you take banshees keep in mind they will NEED a ride(Falcon or Serpent) and cant assault when they get out if the tank moved at all that turn. This can make them tricky to get to where you need. If your worried about hordes take mirrorswords instead of a excutioner. Mathwise both inflict about the same wounds with doom support to MEQ or GEQ, but the swords perform much better in subequent rounds in case you get bogged.

Scorpions can be infiltrated(No ride required) but cant fleet. With a scorpions claw or even a biting blade on your exarch they have a chance against fatter targets.

Take banshees if you have a ride for them. Otherwise, scorpions.

I love that 3+ armor save on the Scorpions, too. Makes 'em a bit more resilient!

I use outflanking scorps to take out annoying back field units like devs, vehicles etc. Power claw on the exarch makes sure armoured targets can be taken out.

I'd go for Banshees. There was a time I would have said Scorpions, but there are just too many marine players around these days to pass up on the Banshees.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

Neither. Eldar assault units are at a massive disadvantage versus those from newer codexes. Just in terms of the power and resilience you get for the points, they aren't worth it. The other big problem is that wave serpents are not designed for assaulting out of, and footslogging is a death sentence. If you have to take one, use banshees in a wave serpent, and make sure you have a doomseer around.

I know that Phoenix Lords are a big no-no, but how good are Scorpions when teamed with theirs?
They get Scout when he is in a unit, and with Move through terrain, that can't be too bad . . .

Banshees. Doom the target and try to Fortune the Banshees. If you are running Fire Dragons, the Banshees do a nice job of cleaning up what is left or what pops out of the destroyed vehicle.

I will be different here. Dire Avengers. 10 with a defend/shimmershield exarch. Better shooting, and in CC the 5++ invuln coupled with 1 less attack for any enemy is much tougher than anything else you get. I assume you have eldrad support for fortune and doom as well.
