I'm currently helping go through and update the Gamer Catalogue thread and merging a couple of other threads into it; which led to a question for Lego.
So far the Gamer catalogue has 550+ people in it, with another couple of hundred people still to be added, as well as any number of gaming clubs, stores and events that provide games nights.

Would it be possible to create a more interactive Gamer Catalogue, following the Store Finder application, that allows people to add themselves and search by region, gaming system and game type (friendly, club, tournament)?

I would suggest that people automatically get removed/hidden from the visible catalogue after 1 year of inactivity (or something) as I know of at least one user on the current list that hasn't posted since 2008. Logging in could reactivate them in the catalogue.

It would also be useful (though understandably trickier) to extend this a bit with some other functionality:

- Gamers in your town
- Forthcoming events in your town/area
- Arrange a game with person X (i.e. kick off a private message, but keep a track of the game requests separately)
- Game history (allow the people to attach results to the game arranged through Dakka and make it public)
- Win/Lose/Draw ratio from games arranged through Dakka

and possibly not quite so politically great, Rate your opponent?

I'm tired and need to go to bed, so this might not make sense now. I'll try and fill it out a bit tomorrow... if I'm any saner tomorrow

Most of that is indeed planned, except it would be either 3 or 6 months instead of 1 year before getting a PM to ask if you are still there, there would be batch messaging to other locals, you could list in mutliple areas, and the game history stuff (including w/l/d and rate opponent) would not be part of it. There are other local related things planned as well but I have a lot of bugfixes and maybe a big reworking of the gallery before I get to work on it.
