Here's the rematch report!
http://www.3forint.com/2011/07/battle-report-orks-vs-gk-rematch.html

Hi all, Here's a quick run down of the lists with the link to the report to follow

GK List
HQ
Grand master - Psycannon, 3 servo skulls
Elite
Vindicaire assassin
6 man Purifier squad - Psycannon x 2, Halberd x 3, Daemon Hammer, in a Razorback - Psybolt ammo
Venerable Dreadnought - Twin linked AC, Twin linked AC, Psybolt ammo
Troops
6 man GK strike squad - Psycannon, Psybolt ammo, in a Razorback - Psybolt ammo
5 man GK strike squad - Psycannon, Psybolt ammo, in a Razorback - Psybolt ammo
5 man GK strike squad - Psycannon
Heavy
Dreadnought - Twin linked AC, Twin linked AC, Psybolt ammo
Nemesis Dreadknight - Heavy incinerator, Heavy Psycannon, Nemesis Daemonhammer
Nemesis Dreadknight - Heavy incinerator, Heavy Psycannon, Nemesis Daemonhammer

A couple things about my list. I know it's not the standard GK spam list or really the standard for a GK list at all, but I really wanted to try deep striking the Dreadknight with shooty weapons to see if they were as effective as they are with the personal teleporter. Check out my thoughts at the end of the report to see what I think

Ork list
HQ
Ghazzzzz!!!
Big Mek with KFF, power klaw, and 'eavy armour, cybork body
Elite
Dem Burnas
Dem boyz named Lootas
Troops
Diversified Nobz wiv a Wagon wiv a rolla
Boyz in a Trukk (like good boyz do)
Mo' Boyz
Dem Grots wiv a boss
Fast
Kopta wiv rokkits and buzzsaw
'Eavy
Da ovver wagon wiv a rolla
Da ovvver ovvvveeerrr wagon wiv a rolla

It's a pretty standard Battlewagon rush list as seen here Soldado's boyz. He has had some success with this list on the RTT tourney circuit so I wanted to get some practice in against it. Orks are still taking the top spots at some of the tourneys so it's always good to have practical knowledge about what you'll be fighting.

And here's the report! Thanks for looking! http://www.3forint.com/2011/06/drunken-master-battle-report-orks-vs-gk.html

I definitely like that you took a new approach to your army Dok. I'm curious though, do you feel your 17 scoring models were enough for this game? It feels like you might be at a disadvantage in objective based games (especially SG, but C&C was rough too it looks like).

@Magister: It's fairly difficult to take down a venerable dread(as you know very well). I think he has only been destroyed in two of the games I've played tbh. And with the FAQ allowing me to make him scoring, that's really all i needed. At the end of that game, I had one scoring dreadnought, one scoring dreadknight and 7 PAGK scoring bodies left. But that was a test ist and not something I am likely to play in a competitive environment

@Zid: thanks a lot! It was real fun game. Check back this week sometime for more!

Nice report; was also interested (and subsequently disappointed ) to see how shooty Dreadknights would perform. I think on the whole though it's a pretty solid looking list with personal teleporters on the knights that is...

That was a really entertaining rep, fellas!

As someone who's bringing wagon orks to the bao myself, it was an especially nice read. Better luck next time, my green brother!

WOW, and thats about all i can say. I honestly cant think of something that would have made this game better. well of course, if more things blew up that is.

Overall to both sides, a very well fought battle in the name of the warmachine!

the shooty dreadknights unfortunately spent the whole game in CC. If I would have been able to deep strik a bit further away from ghaz then I think it would've went a bit different

Yeah, the necrons stood in for my servo skulls. They were the closest thing I had to skulls laying around

Grey knights are tough, IMO the best book in the game at present. Tau and eldar seem to be the only armies with advantages over them, and they are pretty uncommon in tournaments these days.

Well played. I wonder how it would have gone down had the orks gone first? Deft rollas are so savage against light mech spam.

I do feel GK is a pretty horrible matchup for Ork lists like this, especially Dok's list, which isn't the typical static shooty spam list that everyone seems to gravitate towards at the lower end of competitive. His list is far more balanced, and can meet Orks at the point of attack with strong assault elements (2 dreadknights with swords) as well as enough shooting to take down soldado's mobility elements by the time that CC is finished. That I believe is the key. While Soldado has been able to get second turn assaults, and even typically win those assaults, they are far more even then he is used to, and as such when he finishes them up, he is left with only about 1/2 his assault element left, and typically only 1-2 battlewagons. It then becomes the perfect storm for GK, who are able to run and gun the remaining orks down without much issue.

I really do commend Dok's army and tactics in this matchup, it works really well.

@ Reecius: I wouldn't have deployed as far up, that's for sure. I might have turtled a bit to try and get a couple more rounds of shooting on his wagons. If shooting went the same way then I would be pretty boned I imagine, ha ha. I definitely would've got more use out of my incinerator purifiers though. I could've set them up as a counter charge unit.

I thought the rematch might be rated "R" for the swearing at the top of the page, but not for the nudity at the end.
Tough luck, Soldado. I've not yet beaten Dok's GKs in ... 3 matches? I was pullin' for ya!
