I recently saw the pilot for the Sci-Fi series Battlestar Galactica. Please
correct me if I'm wrong, but does Adama really say "Till All are One?" Or
does he have them say something else?

Are you saying that Adama worships Primus? Would that mean that they're looking for Cybertron(which IS Primus in his alt-mode)? So Adama simply wants to live on his god?

Makes more sense. Maybe it's just that the speeches end the
same way with a call and response.

I could never get in to New Galactica. It takes itself a bit too seriously.

Cool. I try to reserve my physical DVD queue for new releases and watch the older stuff via instant. I will indeed watch it.

It's supposed to be though. The late 70's/early 80's happy go lucky scifi doesn't do well nowadays. If you think about it, the cyclons tried to enact genocide on the human race and that's not exactly a good way to start a disco space romp storyline. Either way, I loved the show for the first season or two but then it turned into a soap opera. Initially, they had a good mix of interpersonal drama and traditional military scifi action but the last two seasons were basically Dawson's Creek iiiiiin spaaaaaace!!

You can do good sci-fi being irreverent and mixing in comedy while still being a mostly serious show. SG-1 and Atlantis did it perfectly and were both successful. Purely being exceedingly serious and having DRAMA! doesn't automatically mean it's good(not saying Neo- BSG isn't good, it's just not my cup of tea and is seriously over-hyped, IMO) or does well, see Stargate Universe(a perfect example of ruining something because they're trying to copy a semi-successful formula).

Don't forget about Firefly. A series that did well and did not take its self seriously at all. Also available on Netflix.

That too. Honestly, I chose those two so I could have continuance when I used Universe as a counterpoint.

It did well AFTER being cancelled after its first and only season... not exactly a shining example. I agree that the show was good but its not a role model for others due to that gigantic elephant in the room.

To be fair, Fox attempting to compete with SciFi by placing it on Friday(already a night fewer adults watch TV plus competing against established shows in the same genre) had a lot to do with it failing.

they didn't make a season. I love Firefly but the first two seasons of BSG are unrefined awesome so major even Kirk is humbled.
(almost as good as Babylon 5...)

Agreed, it's failure was multifaceted and not due to its sense of humor. I myself am one of the dvd fans who avoided the show during its short run. I simply didn't want to watch a blatant space cowboy show (I believe a commercial that had cast using words like "betwixt" and "purrtee" that specifically turned me off) and thats how it was advertised in my region.

That's how a lot of reviews pegged it, too.
I never even knew about it until it was on DVD and I was initially against watching it because my friends were all "It's like live action Outlaw Star!" because there was a special girl in a box and Western aesthetics.
