Hi recently had this come up. What would you do.

Night goblin unit with three fanatics has Net cast on it then a unit gets within the release the fanatics range. Do they have to take a strength test to be released and take damage if fail or do they just release as separate from host unit.

They arent the unit the net was cast on, so no net test.

Also if you are tlaking about the NG unit taking damage from releasing them then it does not. As its not one of the things listed under when the net does damage

By this reasoning then if the NG unit had flame cage cast on it, neither would take damage, correct?

If they havent performed an action that the cage triggers off, no.

The only thing that stands out is that the unit is performing an action. Thus the unit would be required to take a str test in order to do this. The reasoning behind it is that the line states ETC. The unit is making some type of move as your needing to roll dice to see how far the fanatics pop out.

Would anybody be willing to quote the entire line for fanatics coming out of the unit?

Fanatics aren't the target of the net, the night goblins are. The fanatic is the one performing the action, not the night goblin.
Fanatics operate independently of the unit they are bought with.

As above. The fanatics are the models moving, and the fanatics are NOT the unit that you cast the spell on.
