When you outflank, is there any restrcition on where you can bring the unit on along the table edge? Yesterday I played a game using Guard against CSM. We each had an outflanking unit (Vendetta, Possessed with Scouts rule) so we both used outflanking. We thought that you couldn't outflank into the enemy's deployment zone (I think it was one of those times where you're sure you've read about the restrctions somewhere, you just can't remember where) so when my friend brought on his reserves I measured my deployment zone for him to avoid. When I was about to bring on mine, he read the rules again and noticed that there was no mention on any restriction about deployment zones, but after he'd done the same earlier I outflanked away from his deployment zone after he did the same earlier. So, was there any need for us to do that?

when you outflank, the unit walks on from any point on the table edge they rolled(or you chose)

so they could walk on into your opponents deployment zone.

they can't walk on from his table edge though, its from one of the sides.

Nice to get confirmation, thank you.

As a side note, Possessed can not outflank. They don't roll for their special rule until after they are deployed, at which point it is too late to declare them as outflanking.

If you guys choose to play it differently, then that's find (and that's the way I usually play it in friendly games).

Could you not put them in reserve, roll their "Scout" rule and then outflank?

When you are put into reserves you are not deployed.

This is why you can put a unit of space marines into reserve and then choose to combat squad them when they are deployed.

Nottingham (yay!)

But you have to commit to Outflanking at the moment you declare a unit to be in Reserve... which you can't do under RAW if Scouting ability is only gained during deployment :/

Wolf scouts come on with meltaguns and melta-bombs.

because they have a rule allowing that.
