Hey all, Just wondering about a few thing that happened to me in a smallish (1600pt) game that I thought were a bit odd. Firstly, in 8th can you miscast on a roll of double 1s? or was that 7th ed? also, I had a unit of Gor with great weapons kill off a unit and overun into a new combat..which then preoceded to fight once again in the same combat phase? I'm from 40k originally and this sounded a bit wierd.

Any thoughts?

Double 1s dont miscast unless there was some tzeentch magic going on miscast is double 6s.

I think the fighting happens next turn turn but the unit that charged into that unit counts as having charged and can then still over run.

Nope, on 1 turn that unit fought twice. And I must have been thinking of 7th about miscasts

I dont think they can do that that would be really mean tho muahah I could have my warriors walk down a whole battle line oooh fun.
But I think the rules say the fight happens next turn.

Never played 7th ed., but in 8th miscasts are normally on two (or more) sixes (pg 33). There are a few things (spells, magic items) that can cause miscasts on other rolls though.

If a unit overruns/pursues into another enemy unit, it can fight again IF that enemy is already engaged in a close combat that has not yet been fought in that phase (pg 58).

Yeah, I had a quick look at the BRB to make sure I was remembering it right (which is why there are like 4 posts between mine and the OP ). You are right about still counting as charging even if you don't fight until the next turn.

I know that much for sure because the brett guy that I was playing got a lovely angry warrior unit in the flank and was freaking out about it.

But ya problem solved

Ps Alas be care tz magic can make you miscast on any doubles so careful.

Thanks guys for the clarification, yes the other unit was in combat already and had not fought that phase, looks like a tactical error on my part. And no Tzeentch magic, just shadow so 2x6's only to miscast.

Yup double 6s haha still lame when that happens.

Gor can have additional hand weapons or shields not great weapons. Was this Beastigors?

Musta been thats what I thought maybe OP jsut got lazy I wouldnt blame him if he did.

on the overrun thing.


if a unit overruns into a unit that is already engaged in combat and hasn't fought this combat phase yet then they will indeed fight again, counting as having charged.

a unit can only do this once per turn.


if the unit they overrun into isn't in combat they will fight next turn(counting as having charged)
