I have just bought this Knife at my local Flea Market, DIY store for £2.50. It is amazing, compared to my previous hobby knife.

I used to own one of these (above Photo). Here is the run down of how the FRISKARS knife is better.

1. It is solidly built with a MAG-LITE style Aluminium Grip which feels solid and does not bow or give like the red plastic handle feels it does.
2. The nice comfortable rubber grip.
3. The solid metal Collar and Metal insert ring (I have had 2 of the Red ones and one had a metal insert the other a Plastic insert, the plastic has been a single point of failure.
4. It takes the EXACTO type blades, Where as the Red Handled one came with a wide variety of blades and accepts varying blade tabs.

All round I would recommend this Knife (The FRISKARS one) to anyone, the plastic cover and high quality feel of this knife is really pleasing.

Good fidn for that price. Did it come with any spare blades?

I like the second style of knife as well, makes it easy to cut through sprues and alright for chopping at right angles.

I found that small electrical cutters from the same DIY Store mean I don't use that Red one for cutting sprues. there is an ultrafine pair available but i haven't invested in them yet ( and i won't unless I have very delicate sprues to work with and my oafish hands cannot cope ).

They are letter I, I cannot remember how much they cost, but it was quite cheap for what was a good product, infact it was from the same "El Cheapo" DIY store in Cardiff Market.

I just bought a knife for less than half a dollar. It has six different blades with different shapes and questionable quality. In short: good for its price if you don't mind replacing them every now and then (and in fairness, you can buy a lot).

Yeah, I picked up a knife set like your item A for a quid whilst wasting time in a Pound Shop.

Pretty ropey what with plastic blade collets and really light weight handles but what do you expect for a quid! I only got it for the blade selection you get, since I only seem to have ever used the basic Xacto blade.

That other knife does look the business though, would you care to share the name of the place you got it from in case they are nationwide chain?

It's in Cardiff Market, He is a nice guy in the back right hand corner next to worlds worse Greasy Spoon and Opposite a Wool Stall that sells....er.....Wool (Seriously I don't make this crap up). He sells all kinds of DIY products, like STANLEY tools and bits and bobs. I have bought alot off him over the years, the Micro Drill bits above, the Wire brushes, the Pin Vice, Hands free thing with a Magnifier. I go in occassionally and see what I can pick up for a Fiver..Maybe I should buy a Box of these for like £200 and see if I sell them at £3 a piece on Ebay?

I have to say FRISKARS is not a Cheap make, I have some Food Scissors and Home Scissors they cost £20 each, so £2.50 for such a high quality and well produced item is good value.

I'd have one for £3.
