What are the size comparisons of the Forgeworld space marines compared to the plastic ones?

...Forge World Marines compared to Games Workshop Marines*?

They're the same size, fully interchangable kits.

Yup. I got a set of the MK III armor and used regular plastic SM parts on them with no problems.

Technically they are almost the same company. So why should they have a different size?

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.

Well, take the regular SM termies and the GK termies...they are from exactly the same company but the parts arent perfectly interchangeable. The torsos are just different enough that swapping them doesnt really work. I swapped some arms between GK and regular termies, the fit wasnt perfect. They had to be positioned by eye instead of using the sockets. If I had used the sockets they wouldnt have fit right.

I did not encounter any such problems using plastic SM parts on the FW MK IIIs.

Theres a couple pics of them in my gallery if anyone wants to check them out.

Its probably because the Grey Knights are a newer kit, while original Space Marines are older. They could have developed better techniques for pouring them, but involved changing their shape.

Heamonculus army - almost 500 points (more in the mail). none painted.
Wych army - in the mail

You also have to consider that technically, grey knights are neither Space marine nor other army. Though they have the same bodies, they're not the same miniatures. all their kits are separate, meaning that codex jumping is difficult, but moreover, they're specialised and have just as specialised models. they are not meant to be equiovcal.

FW models are as modular as rhino chassis.

Good comparison. Also, if it helps.... The SW wolf pack torsos are actually bigger than regular tac marines (and CSM, for that matter) torsos, so you can't really reuse the extra fronts for anything. Not to mention bolter arms sit funny on them. Just saying that GW DOES make mistakes like that.

The FW space marines were tested quite a lot to be interchangable with both Loyalists and CSM, which is great.

Imperial Guard figures produced by FW are noticeably smaller than their GW counterparts. SM figures are the same size.

Not really, as FW's Guard are more 'in scale' than the bloated mutants that are Cadians and Catachans!
