So the ones by GW are (shockingly) way over priced. I am wondering if anyone out there knows a good cheap alternative for a 100-175 model army w/Codex, rule book, dice etc..

Sabol is the absolute worst, in my opinion. Their bags are just too flimsy... if you drop them, or they hit a corner of a table, or something heavy is placed on them, your models are kind of screwed.
If you want the Mercedes Benz of army cases, get Battlefoam. Just stay away from the new 1520XL bag, it's a piece of crap (should have been much better for $300... the old 1520 bag was far and away superior). The Warmachine bags in particular are super awesome for the special compartment for sleeves/markers/etc.
If you prefer something cheaper that works just as well, look into KR mutlicases. You don't get the custom cutout foam, but keeps your models just as safe for a fraction of the price.

That is a good solid case, and very inexpensive.
I bought mine for $10, holds a ton of infantry, going to get a second one for my vehicles.

I actually built my own out of a old plastic briefcase. I put in foam and everything. It fits up too 120 ork boyz comforably and about 16 bikes/deffakopters. As well as a seperate compartment that holds my codex, rulebook, and templates
I also painted an orky face for some giggles.
All in all cost me about 10$. I just used foam from a mattress bed and cut my own compartments.

Here's one of the best, and cheapest, army cases you can buy:
Go to a Wal-Mart (or whatever you choose) and buy a handgun case. I'll post a pic tomorrow, but you get the case and take out one of the foam inserts and BAM you got yourself a nice case. All for $15. Simple.

I find guncases are real rough on your paintjobs, so make sure you put several coats of varnish on the suckers. The foam is stiff and there are a lot of pressure points compared to foam with cutouts. This would be especially troublesome if you ever decide to throw money away on Finecast models.

Actually KR does do custom cutout foam, for most of the GW range. I just ordered my third card case to store my expanding marines force, with custom cutouts for 3 land speeders, a land raider, a vindicator and a rhino, plus 18 terminators and 25 troops. I really like the KR system.

I really like Battle Foam, but hate their prices.
Me, I have a Sabol Design case and have been happy with it. I prefer BLU foam from Portable Warfare though as it is superior to what Sabol gives you.

I use the cookie sheet method.
Stick a magnet on the bottom of each of your figs, stick the figs to a cookie sheet. If I had some kind of car accident I would be kind of hosed, but the whole shebang was less than ten dollars.

If you have a car accident and are worried about your miniatures, you need to re-prioritize, amigo
I would do that but it seems like a pain to move from the car to the battle zone. Do you have a method of stacking the cookie sheets?

So I'm the crazy guy who bought the 3-tray GW case. I rather like it, though I wish is was the one with the Aquilla on it since it'd be flatter. Other two odd bits is one of the clasps is a bit odd but works fine and isn't loose. The other thing is just super annoying, you know how the shell is 2 pieces of plastic with air to cushion it? Well there's a piece of plastic, probably small, stuck between, that slides around as I move the case.
I was thinking of getting the 6-tray one for my future WE army since I can get it for $10 more than I paid at GW for the smaller one! (plus shipping ) Automatically Appended Next Post: Of course the main annoyance is cutting through multiple layers for big things.

Feldherr make good cases - the maxi holds 5 standard trays, almost as many as the large double case from GW, but in a much smaller area. Only trouble is either youre shipping from Germany (to get the most choice) meaning expensive shipping unless you buy enough in one go, or youre looking for a local stockist who may only have the basic foam inserts, and not e.g. 100mm pluck foam
KR are good and cheap, but I dont like the foam as much as feldherr / GW foam - slightly too low density in my opinion. Sure practically its fine, but it just doesnt feel right t o me!

If you're the crazy guy, then I must be schizophre... Oh, wait...
Anyways, I have 3 of the 3-tray GW carry cases. One was my younger brother's that I inherited when he quit like five or six years ago. One holds the bulk of my Space Marine infantry, another holds my Sisters of Battle, and the third holds some of my Orks. I also have that green WH40k double-wide case with the pluck-out section that was offered... last year, maybe? It holds my Imperial Guard and Eldar infantry, as I switched the pluckout part with a fifth, soft-walled case with a shiny embroidered Aquila that used to be my brother's. That one now holds some assorted Space Marine vehicles and a few Leman Russes.
The bulk of my collection is being stored in tank kit half-boxes on a shelving unit. I was looking for ways to improve this storage situation for cheap. Eventually I settled on trying out a clear plastic "tacklebox," that I got at Canadian Tire for about 8 bucks. I managed to cram over 100 Orks in it, though they are far from comfortable and every time some are taken out for a game and then put back in, it takes a few minutes of fiddling to get it to close properly. I'll end up getting a bunch more at some point, and reduce their population density. The advantage they hold over the open-topped boxes is that, as closed-topped transports, they don't get that penalty to their survival on damage rolls. However, the Orks also suffer the disadvantages that come from disembarking from a closed-to... Maybe I should take my meds and get some sleep at some point...
Anyways, the advantage is that they're stackable, which means I can fit more than one layer of models on my shelves. Another advantage is that they're clear plastic, so I can sorta see what's in there, unlike the box halves on the top shelves. The lack of good protection is offset by the fact that I would only transport them through the house in these things, so it's a short distance with good control over how they're treated.
This has been, "How not to treat your lovely miniatures, 101."

I have been wanting to get a battlehive for a while but they areKind of expensive. You can fond them here http://crystalcaste.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CC&Category_Code=BH
So far ive Used plastic cases bought at Joanes fabrics. They also sell a soft foam there that is easy to cut. I have 4 cases atm at about 10 bucks each. I can fit about 40 battlemechs in one or the plastic 40k minis i can probably fit about 100-150 depending how I pack them.
The cases and foam were 50% off this past weekend but I think the sale just ended. They go on sale often though
