Do you think that GW will ever bring primarks back into 40K? In theory thy could because Majority of the loyal primarks are un-accounted for/not dead. I.E. LEJ could just wake up, Russ could come back out of the eye, ect ect ect

I think that if they did it would make the game VERY broken. looking at the stats for draigo the stats for the primarks would have to be insane. What do you guys think?

Edit Sorry about the spelling i'm kinda useless

Yep, they could bring Primarks to 40k. It'd give the Space Marines somewhere to go to buy themselves some cheap clothes...

OP: No, they will probably never bring Primarchs back to 40k. (By the way, it's 'Primarchs' and not 'Primarks.' As you can tell from the answers so far, in a similar vein to the Crassus Assault Transport thread, if you don't spell things correctly, the local trolls will just taunt you without end rather than answering your legitimate question.) They are simply too powerful to place in player hands. In addition, statting them out makes them mortal and finite, rather than the 'hurling mountains into the distance, killing a dragon bare-handed, murdering entire sentient populations before puberty' sort of mythos that has been built up around them.

It's fun to imagine rules for Primarchs, but there (in all likelihood) will never be official ones. Although there is an official mini for one of the Primarchs that I saw in a GW catalog once. (No rules for it. Think it was Leman Russ.)

Apologies for the mischief, I assure you it was good natured on my part. I was just tickled at the thought of the discount clothes shop being in the 40K universe.

Jimsolo's right though, in his answer, but I prefer to be considered a spammer, rather than a troll. The Primarchs will probably never be brought back, as they are meant to be quasi-demigods, beings of unknown power from the mists of time. Loss of technologies, and powers, and a forgotten golden age are fundamental to the feel of the Imperial background. Reintroducing them at this point would be a major shift in the fluff. Now, if they released an expansion set in the 31st millennium, and the Horus Heresy, then they'd have to bring them back. I wouldn't hold your breath for that happening any time soon, though.

Check out Bell of Lost Souls excellent Warhammer 30,000 fan-suppliment. It's well worth a look if you're interested in this kind of thing.

i think of primark as less a discount store but more a so cheap there is no point stealing the stuff cheap

its just i noticed a lot of wiggle room that GW has left in the fluff for the return of the primarks, IMO i don't think they should come back.

@JamesMclaren123

That's a good point. I reckon they're still making a healthy margin on those clothes, despite the cost. You're right about the wiggle room thing, but I think GW just do that to tease us, much like the 'golden throne is breaking down' stuff. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen, kind of thing.

@Jimsolo

I'd link it, but it's blocked by my work filter. I really liked it, they put a lot of effort into it.

I was thinking about this on my walk home yesterday; agreed most of the Primarchs have either disappeared (loyalists) or turned into Daemon Princes (Traitors), but what about Alpharius / Omegon?

Even if you believe the story that one of them was killed, that still leaves the other one happily roaming around in real space with a band of Alpha legionnaires.

It did make me wonder if GW would ever use that as the basis of a big chaos vs. imperium campaign. It has a neat get out clause, because even if chaos lose you can just say that it wasn't the real Alpharius anyway...

Primarks are not Primarchs.

You know, that's not that hard to believe. I could actually see GW doing that.

How about instead of apologizing, you just fix the spelling? It's a much better use of your posting time.

Primarchs have never been in the game officially. A few GW stores got rules for Primarchs in use in some special games back in 3rd ed, but these weren't as official as even a White Dwarf release. Fluff-wise, I don't see it happening, as the 40k fluff has stagnated since the year 2000. I would love a big global campaign again where the fate of some of the Primarchs was in the balance, but I don't see GW doing that sort of thing anymore.

Confused

It would be amazing if they did, so they won't.
Primarches are not the uber-awesome mega hunks people seem to think they are. Considering we have rules for Eldrad, Bloodthirsters, Maugan Ra and Draigo (although the last two could be attributed to ridiculous fluff writing) and I think Angron got WD'ed (a daemon primarch, therefore far stronger and tougher than a regular one), a non-daemon Primarch wouldn't be too powerful. After all, I think an Emporer Titan has far greater killing power than one little guy.

Wasn't there a big stink about ballot stuffing in the last one? (People reporting fake games?)

Maybe if they tied it to the GT tournament results, or a series of in-store tournaments or something, rather than random people playing at home.

I could actually see the Primarchs coming back, never in player hands but when the Imperium hands in the balance. GW realized their mistake of putting the stats for a literal god (Nightbringer) into the Necron codex, and I don't see them making the same mistake again by giving the Primach stats. But I could see them creating these great heroes of the Imperium to lead the people. I think that is why they left them in the fluff.

Then again, in order for the Primarchs to ever come back, GW would actually have to advance the plot of 40k, which we all know is never ever going to happen.

They might bring some Primarchs back.

Russ and Vulkan could come back without advancing the storyline too much.

they would be given models and Appoc only stats.

it would balance out Deamon Primarch Angron's presense within the rules.

Based on some fluff, Russ' had mortal wounds when he decided to take off for the Eye.

Listen closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime.
