I think it is Ogres, because the model count is so low that the ogre battalion makes most of your army. At least, that's what I have heard.

Ogres probably the least amount of purchases to be made. Warriors of Chaos might be a better overall purchase, however. Good points value in the box, and they're a very solid army.

Yeah pretty much the only thing you might not be using is the WoC box is the Knights, but even they can easily be fielded if you have a mind to do it.

The lizardmen box isn't a bad deal, however i don't know what you would do with the cav models after the first 10 (in case you were debating getting 2 boxes).

Ogres=WoC to similar to call here, I will give a nod to the Ogres as you will use all the models, you may not use all 4 leadies maybe 2 or none but you will easily have enough bitz for more bulls. Dwarfs ain't bad either, 32 great weapon warriors for a strong block and 16 GW quarrellers or thunderers and a cannon or organ gun is a solid start add in BSB and Runesmith and you're set. Ogres and Dwarf battalions are great for expanding an army too while with WoC after one battalion box you will not need hounds probably and knights, though their bitz are good for Chosen.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Iob if that's an option lots of models just amazing value.
Woc meh I bought a party pack and got rid of marauders and hounds.
Ogres isn't bad.
But ya iob comes with so much stuff and you can easily trade the army you don't want for the other half as in get 2 sets of the skaven or HE for the price of 1 and you use all those models so it is a win (maybe not the birdy but still).

on the topic of cowpows island of blood yes! easily the best valued box by far, and if your worried about the griffon guy (who if you play to win you will never ever take a griffon) a little converting and you can just turn it into a great eagle!
persoanlly i think the lizard man box is an aweosme one, pending on if you would run their cav of course, also the vampire counts box is PERFECT, corpse carts skellies and ghouls are all aweosme and their your core, zombie models you should have tons on stamdby anyways for in game.
ps HE battalion is garbage, silver helms are poop, reapeter bolt thorwer is poop, and that half your box already lol

Bretonnians contain a whole army.
1 Lord on Pegesus
8 KOTR
20 M@A
16 Bowmen
If you are looking for what batallion you can buy then play without expanding the bretonnian one is the way to go.

Yes but that Bret box will get eaten alive by anything at it's points level.
You are right with a bit of cutting and pasting that grifon is an eagle muahaha.
I would say iob you get the rule book templates dice over all it's a win.
From what I'm hearing OK brets and WE are getting an over haul (from what I'm being told it's in that order).
So might not be a bad idea to get a bret party pack if you don't mind painting every knight individually (if you stick to the fluff) and being French looking

The Ogre box is great. The only thing you won't use is leadbelchers, and they come with 2 bull sprues plus extra leadbelcher sprues so they can just be built as bulls. 2 or 3 of them can even be made into ironguts if you use bull arms on the IG bellower and standard, and with all the gnoblars on ogre sprues you can easily make a plastic trapper unit or a rank or two of extra fighters. If you're interested in Ogres I'd snap the batallion up, as GW might lower its value when OK is updated, or replace something with a new, less useful kit like a monster or cavalry that you will only want one unit of.

The HElf Battalion doesn't have Silverhelms in: 20 Archers, 20 spearmen/seaguard, bolt thrower and chariot.
Bolt thrower is ace, not poop.
The Lizardmen box is sweet. 2 battalions; make your characters from the plastics and you have a 2000+ point army sorted.

But what else are you going to take? Most HE armies I see have bolt throwers or no rare choices at all.

Great Eagles are quite good, but it's not like you're required to take rares. Especially when you're High Elves and have so many awesome specials.

I agree with purple dont bother with the bolt thrower since well ok they may do decent against hordes but really the odd chance you actually hit a character they wont earn their points like honestly.
Go with eagles or just stick with the totally AWESOME specials that they have.
Since rares are really not a requirement like they are in some other armies that have great rare choices.

I always run a bolt thrower with my high elves, and it always does what i want it to do, kill 4 or 5 of my friends guys per turn(volley), not that they dropped the silver helms in the he battalion and got more spears(Seaguard) and archers, and added a chariot i think it is a pretty good deal, sadly when i started my he army all they had was the one with silverhelms, but then again i got a pretty good trade for some more skaven(traded them and a few other really cheap things for the skaven from the iob box

Its not bad but the if it didnt have a corpse cart or just included something else you could build an entire army with 3 or so of those.

Still they are not that great they are not bad but im just saying use the contents to build an army and get some grave guard and some vamps and you are set.
They have not really worked all too well when I have played against armies with them and its just meh its not bad but its not that great for the points.

Im just thinking for what can you get for the price of 4 bolt throwers? If I remember correctly you can get some fancy stuff maybe a block of something nasty that will kill as much in 1 round of cc as the bolt throwers will in 2 rounds of shooting.

You get 6 special dudes without anything special with a bit of points left over for one bolt thrower. For 400 points you'll get 25 SM/ WL/ PG with FC. I know what I'd take.
