The reason I ask is that I've discovered a new colour scheme for my Cadians that I really, really like. They have grey fatigues and red armour, but it doesn't jive so well with my current desert scheme tanks which are all tan and brown. Is there a way to work red or grey into a desert scheme? Would it look alright or am I absolutely out of my mind?

I would think different shades of yellow-brown, light brown, and dark brown would usually suffice for a desert color scheme. Do you have pics of your army? I should withold any judgment until after I see them.

You could try using Burnt Sienna over brown for your desert scheme as it has a fair amount of red in it.

Check out the thread DaedricBob has up about his desert painted IG. His are nicely done, in a great desert camo pattern.

You could be really brave and go for Desert Pink, as per the SAS in WWII.

The US army designed a variety of colour ways for different types of desert in the 1980s. It included red desert, grey desert and yellow desert. Research the colours used for those scheme.

It was in one of these books by Steven Zaloga.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Kilkrazy has a point. The first question should be what type of desert are you fighting over? sand, ash, gravel, ice, suphur, grass, moonscape, ocean, iron?

All of those could have different schemes to suit. Also infantry in a Guard force will often be from a totally different formation than the vehicles.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You could always make flags and pennants to put on your vehicles painted in the same colours as your infantry to tie them together without having to repaint them.
Something like this maybe, but obviously your colours?

My desert Orks chiefly used Bleached Bone, Graveyard Earth, Desert Yellow, and Bubonic Brown. Washing the uniform with Devlan Mud helps too.
