I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of the scheme. It doesn't seem to fit DE or the razorwing model in my mind. Pretty well executed paint job, though. Airbrush?

I love it. Unlike ph34r, i think it fits the DE/Razorwing aesthetic just fine (basically its an evil version of the CW eldar schemes I see all the time on sites like CMON). And yeah, I'd say thats airbrush work if I ever saw it.

I'm afraid I agree with ph34r. Whilst the scheme is clearly well thought out, and brilliantly executed, it doesn't scream "DE" to me.

Thanks all and in my first post I forgot to write "howdy". I guess I just got tired of the Tron look that seems to be all over the place so I went extrememly the other way. See I have been an avid Eldar player for 18 years and never did any paint like this on any of my 26 falcon based models. Good paint jobs but not a reach out and grab you job. When the DE dex came out, I thought "Why not?" and jumped on the wagon and I'm glad I did. It has given me back my excitement for the game since the Eldar codex is kinda old and a little broken now.

I'd agree with ph34r, but I wouldn't say that it would bothers me. I could see a group of DE raiders that frequent dusty worlds going for something like this. I imagine the scheme wouldn't be too popular in Commoragh though.

Very well done in either case, and welcome to Dakka.

Thank you all for your replies. I've only ever used brushes to paint my mini's in all the 20 plus years I been doing them. This was a first to get out my trusty air brushes and lay the paint out. I can't wait to use it on some more of my bigger models.

While not the traditional DE-look, I think you executed beautifully on a really creative interpretation of the Razorwing's profile and skull motif. Nice job.

I have 2 critique's...the shading along the top of the "skull" it is a bit abrupt. Perhaps a smoother transition would make the skull appear more three dimensional.

The other is the color of the skull itself, it is too white, perhaps a bone color, or ivory would be better.

Other than that, very creative and some very nice airbrush work.

Thanks and actually its not that white in person. The picture fixes did that.

I hope this one shows the color better.

Those are both totally boss, what do you have in mind for the basing? The scalloped/scale look is something I haven't seen on many Dark Eldar vehicles.

I approve of everything Dark Eldar and not being the standard black with glowing enges.

And leering skulls is just a bonus.
I might even try something similar for my Harlequin-themed Dark Eldar.

As soon as I get off my lazy butt I am going to use some extra walls left over from my cities sets as well as some other rubble to give them a more "we stormed the human cities and took all the prisoners we needed to satisfy the Dark Ones" theme. Thanks again all.

On another note, I am about to start a void raven conversion this weekend using 2 razorwings as a base. Will post pics when done. Good luck to everyone this weekend that is playing in the 'Ard Boyz.

Ooh, a Beastman skull! (to quote Cookie Monster) That's my favorite!

This freehand is a damn good job, and so is the scales on the other one (i'm assuming those are scales?). You should be proud.
