Hi all,

I know that Codex: Angry Marines exists as an online, opponents permission only codex, but I'm looking to do up a force of them to take to tournaments and whatnot. What existing codex currently would make the best "Counts As" Angry Marines codex?

Personally, I'm thinking it would be Codex Blood Angels. Blood rage could separate the Angry Marines from the Angrier Marines. Death Company could be the &%$#ing Furious Marines or Cock Knockers. Mephiston would make a great Temperus Maximus imo. High strength, can wound you before the game starts, and I could totally see Perils of the Warp as him just getting so ANGRY that he has a small aneurism. Pissed off Thunderhawk pilots dropping landraiders on the enemy. Sanguinary priests could be Pissed Off Priests or Bruisiarchs.

Then again, Codex Grey Knights is tempting too. An entire squad of pissed off marines with machine guns and power bats/power boards with power nails in them/power sacks of power doorknobs. Still, the overall theme of Grey Knights doesn't fit as well as BA imo.

Obviously, there would be some things that simply would not get used. I can't see Angry Marines flying around in land speeders, unless they were allowed to ram them into the enemy. Likewise, scouts would most likely be right out as well. Tactical squads wouldn't be used unless they were somewhat melee capable (bat and bolt pistol).

Anyway, any ideas on the subject? Any of the other marine codecii more suited?

First, I have an honest question for you. Do people laugh at the Angry Marine jokes more than once? When was the last time you ran into someone who hadn't heard the joke? I think this might be a little like a girl getting a "Staff Entrance" sign tattooed above her vagina. It seems funny at the time, but I think you're going to regret it eventually. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want you to put time and effort into it only to realize you made a mistake.

Honestly, it would only be about a 1k point force, and I'm doing it more for the modelling opportunities than anything else Plus its not costing me a thing (aside from paints), as I have a ton of old marine stuff just sitting around. So I figured what the heck?

And yes, I've loved the Angry Marines concept for years... yes, I'm immature

I know its a goofy internet thing, but I love the modelling opportunities of converting up a space marine wielding a glowing sack of door knobs. Hell, all the bare-faced space marine heads are already shouting and look pissed off, so that part is done for me!!

Agreed, the Angry Marines are rife with awesome modeling opportunities and I always love to see a fully converted force of ye olde Angries. The only thing stopping me, is that I can't do it justice if I censor myself. If I do censor it I won't be able to bring the awesome to tourneys.

Love angry marines. Sounds like a great project. IMO BA would be the way to go.
