I Binged warhammer accidentaly today, and under the link to GW.com it said "games workshop makes the best model soldiers in the world"

Gave me a chuckle, as I think there are other companies with some better mini's.

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

The term "best" refers not to the modeling but to their superior finecast super secret resin formula which is never written down without first being run through the super secret squirrel decoder ring.

The company has also stated that they're the "Porsche" of gaming in the past.

Well, it is hard to find someone more expensive than GW, so they do have a point from one perspective. Even though they're the market leader and practically every wargamer has played 40k at least once and they're doing really well, I still think bragging about your own company like this is like giving yourself your own nickname.

GW makes great gaming miniatures, but I'd say there's a lot of modeling companies/kits with both better detail and higher manufacturing quality. They aren't meant to be 'played with', of course, so that allows them to be finer in comparison, but GW models are also so big and grossly disproportionate in general that it's easier for their sculptor to cram a bajillion skulls and scrolls onto the fig in an appearance of greater detail.

Says that on Google as well.

Think they should add:

"Even if we do say so ourselves!"

That might even the statement up a bit.

Or else rip off Carlsberg:

"We don't make metal miniatures anymore, but if we did, they'd probably be the best in the world."

This isn't really a "fact" even if you find it slightly amusing. GW makes the best models at the production level they have in the world though - while some companies do make better detailed minis, nobody makes as many as GW do at that level of quality. While GW quality control isn't amazing (miscasts and so on) their actual kit quality is really stellar.

I realize, however when i said fact i meant it is factual that this statement is on bing under GW's link.

Not to be persnickety, but would you actually use the standard of weighing quality in light of quantity like that? The logical extension of that sort of standard would be that the best food would be chain restaurant burgers or KFC*, the best drink in the world either Coke or Pepsi, the best Sedan is the Toyota Camry, the best rifle the AK-47 and so on.

As a further aside, how do we know how many kits are actually made by GW compared to other manufacturers? The vast majority of other miniature manufacturers aren't publicly traded companies and so we don't have much in the way of figures for them, and even the ones that are (chiefly makers of action figures) tend to not be considered (conveniently).

*In fairness, the Colonel's chicken may be a legitimate contender for best fried chicken.
