The Chaos Space marines codex says you can give your terminator a pair of lightning claws for 10 pts.

Yet when you buy the terminator pack there are no lightning claws in there...is this Games Workshop trolling me or I have to get them separately?

Fixed it for ya

Some models unfortunately do not have all of the wargear options. You can buy some as bitz or model them on your own. Failing that, in friendlies, most will allow proxying.

GW has been better with providing all options with the newer releases though.

You're best off getting a set from a loyalist player. They should have enough left over from TH/SS Termies or Wolf Guard boxes. There's also a really cool set in the Chaos Lord box but that's kinda pricey for one bit. Would make a cool Lord/Champion though.

The way I'm going to do it because I want to do the same thing as you and get some lighting claw terminators.
I'm going to buy the SM Assault Terminators and then go to forge world and get the World Eaters conversation kit, bit pricey but it seems to leave you with some awesome looking assault terminators.
Would get you a link so you know what I'm mean but I'm on my phone atm :x

Is pretty crappy that GW don't put all the options in the box, I got a box of bezerkers hoping I would get a power fist in there so I give my skull champion one. No luck annoyingly, going to have to find which squad has one so I can pick up some new troops and get a power fist or two :(

I bought the battleforce and also needed an extra Powerfist for my berzerkers so what I did is I asked a friend of mine who used to play orks if I could have one of his power klaws, cut the power claw off, attached it to a posessed space marine arm and got a cool looking Power Fist.

Since the army is Khornate no one objects against the Klaw's fluff and Klaws are basically power fists...

I also found this tutorial for making lightning claws from regular power swords:

It tragically happens quite a bit. I often only find out after buying a box that it doesn't have the bit I need. GWAR! was pushing a sprue catalog, but I don't know what happened to it, or even if it is still around.

I use the arm on the lower right as a "counts as" demonic power fist, and once I explain it to my opponent nobody has a problem with it. There are no other mutated arms similar to it in the army to be confusing.

Its because the chaos terminator box is quite old, when chaos get new models, you might get them then. until then, space wolves lightening claws look awesome, forget finding chaos lord lightening claws, they are always sold out and stupid expensive.

It isn't terribly old. It's actually a fairly recent box from the release of the Chaos Marine codex in mid 2007. I wouldn't expect it to get redone any time soon - like not for ten years. It's got a lot of options for combi-weapons, fists, heavy weapons and so on, but it unfortunately doesn't come with lightning claws. As has been mentioned, get loyalist ones and shave off the Imperial doodads.

IIRC the box doesn't even have enough power weapons, there's 4 and the one sad tentacle arm
Agreed with the loyalist claws idea

It doesn't have enough for any single weapon option to be spread across all five Terminators. If you buy it and the Terminator Lord kit then you do though. Kind of a wonky workaround, but as an added bonus you end up with the Chaos Lord kit, which is absolutely badass.

Ah but now we enter the 'buying more to get the piece that should have come with the first box' territory.
I will agree the Termie lord does look extremely boss however

For the price they charge you should definitely get a third sprue in the box, like the SW termies.

It died when GWAR! got banned. Just clearing that up.
