Filthy here, getting back into 40k after a long hiatus. I'm posting to get some comments, critiques, tips and just for the fun of it. Here are some firewarriors. I had painted them camo and dark angels green years ago but I wanted a change.

Nice paint job. The clear distinction between colors gives them a manga-ish feeling which is good for tau.

I agree with yamgrenade. why did you use so many of the fish faces? from experiance most people prefere to use the helmets.

I normally agree, but the clear contrast looks really nice on these.

@yamgrenade, I was going for kind of an anime or american animation vibe. Thanks.
@haonn, I already have about 30 firewarriors assembled and I did all the faces at once so I wouldn't have to keep mixing the same colors.
Thanks for all the kind words. I'm still not too sure what kind of base to give them. It can wait till I have some more models done I guess.

Then I took a proper look and decided they look pretty damn good

I'm not really sure why people always put Tau and anime together just because there are mech-suits. Starkly contrasted colors are used in nearly all of 40k (Crimson Fists, Templars, Tyranids, Eldar, etc) but nobody says anime until it's put on Tau.

Anyhow! Great color scheme, would love to see some vehicles painted up! Welcome to Dakka!

I'd disagree on the Eldar, actually, they get similar references. It's just the styles of the armies, not the fact that they have big robots. After all, no one claims a sentinel looks anime-esque, or a warhound. It's not just the colours, it's the armies

I think it is because they have such clean lines, as opposed to other armies with more rounded surfaces. Tau look anime in just about any paint job anyway...

How could we be painting toy soldiers if we didn't like cartoons and comic books right?

Thanks for all the comments and welcomes. Since I've posted all the yellow models I have here's a warfish in my old green scheme. It will soon be stripped and redone along with another fish, a railhead and a piranha.
