2k points, all in jump packs:

Librarian x2, shield of sang, unleash rage

3 sanguinary priests

10 ass marines x5 units, serg with power fist, 2 melta guns

10 Death Company, 1 Power sword/bolt pistol, 2 thunder hammer/bolt pistol

Tactics is charge up the field, melta vehicles to death, assault whats inside. Use libbys to get a 5+ cover to help for lack of invul, and use them for rerolls in CC. The sang priests used to transfer furious charge and FNP to the 5 ass marine units.

Any thoughts? Is this even viable?

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

Id drop dc, you have no transport they cant hold objectives and they are a huge point sink.

here is my doa army at 2500.

hq
librarian with jump pack and plasma pistol - 140pts
librarian with jump pack and infernus pistol - 140pts
honour guard jump packs 4x melta 1xpf guns-230
honour guard jump packs 4xplasma chpater banner guns-255

elites
2x sang priests jumppacks-150

troops
10x asm 2x melta guns, 1xpf -235
10x asm 2x melta guns, 1xpf-235
10x asm 2x melta guns, 1xpf-235
10x asm 2x melta guns, 1xpf-235

fast attack
5x VV jumppacks 1x pw 2x powerfist-215
5x VV jumppacks 1x pw 2x powerfist-215
5x VV jumppacks 1x pw 2x powerfist-215

this gives me 4 priests very mobile fast army with tank and infantry insurance. you can make 1 of the asm units have flamers if you wish. you can even lower the amount of pfs in the vanguard. althought when your opponent sees that you will see there eyes widen and mouths drop.
it may be a little on the light side of bodies but the vanguards take care of some of the bigger threats on the table.

to make it more of a 2k point army you can drop a vanguard vet unit and you can downgrade instead of 2 pfs to 1 pf pre unit and drop the weapon upgrades on the librarians. should put you closer to 2k

From a stand point the above list works but a few tweaks are reconsiable and provide a more competitive template


Special pistols are worth jack on Libbys your going to be casting the whole time IMO their a waste


Vanguards are set but if you need to crunch give them just the pf

Honor guard look fine but do better without a banner and no pf

and on a side note can take flamers and meltas each marine

That gives alittle more versatility against hordes/av13+

Like the surggested dc arnt that great in Doa therefore scratched and probably should add honor guards and vanguards for thier points

Jp dc are just ridculius and don't accomplish much if your opponent can lead them

Other than that it looks like a regular doa template

oh i know the special weapons do nothing but its whats on the librarians model and i dare not re model and mess up the look and its just for point sinks more or less. looks cool when you add them into the honour guard. its really all i go for is looks, if it looks cool ill play it. the PF in the honourguard melta is for when they get in cc and the melta team will get into cc. the banner is for point sink and helps a bit. pretty much all extra gear is point sink. its worked out pretty good for me. whatever works for you though.

At the 2000 pt level, you don't need more than 3 full AM units.
Spend the rest on HG and Vanguard Vets.

I recommend however many your playstyle can get away with. If you can trash your opponent and still hold a winning amount of objectives with only 2 assault squads, cool. If you need 5 to get the job done, also cool. There's no standard issue amount that is the best possible choice. It depends on the player and their local opponents.
