I know purifier's are all the rage. Anyway, here is my idea at a list.

Purgation sqaud camps in cover and gives rhino to Crowe.


Any thoughts or ideas? This will be my first ever Grey Knight list and first marine list in about 8 years.

Theres a battle report with someone using vertiully the same army as this on the forums. It was against a Tau army that just pooped open all the Rhinos then annhilated the squads inside.

Back to subject. I know its not a 100% perfect list, I don't have a huge number of units, any ideas for improvements? Purifier's seem like the best bang for your buck in the codex.

TBH, Grey Knights are gonna always be small, from the little ive read about them, you really need a unit that will refuse to die for long enought to allow all the units in Rhino's to get to where you want them. If not what about mounting some up in the StormRavens flying thingy (sry forgot the name:/)?

Purifiers backed by Venerable Dreadnoughts and Dreadnoughts are an excellent list. In the game referred to, the GK player (by his own admission) made several mistakes and the Tau player made none and (by his own admission) rolled well.

Personally i don't see the need for the Purgation squad. I know you need a transport for Crowe but for 300 points (9 purgators, 4 psycannon, rhino) you could buy him a nice shiny Land Raider Redeemer with meltagun and psybolts and still have 40 points left over (maybe get an Inquisitor and 3 servo skulls with that).

The Redeemer could either hold Crowe or one of your Purifier squads and it's more likely to hurt the enemy and/or divert his attention from your assassin than a transportless purgation squad is.

Hey, I know that battle against Tau!

It depends how competitive you want to get. If you want it less competitive, then get more shiny toys and less units. If you want more competitive, then dump the toys (including the purgation squad) and get more efficient units.

The purgation squad isn't really that good: 1) it's overcosted, 2) it's short in range, 3) you can't combat squad with only 9 and 4) the most important one....it's not a scoring unit and you have no way to make it scoring without a Grandmaster. I would drop this unit.

You have 15pts to play with on upgrades. I would recommend swapping out 1 halberd from each purifier unit for a hammer and if you still have points left over, get searchlights.

Strike squad is for camping objective while Crowe takes their rhino. In annihilation, then strikers stay in rhino and advance with purifiers. Crowe runs behind a rhino and out of LOS.
