Subject: So I was watching Harry Potter Part 2..... Theater Experiences...
And...
There was this annoying lass in the front row. I mean seriously hasn't she read the books? She started bailing when a character died, and then started cheering and clapping when a character was killing a villian, and then it gets worse... She was texting, talking to her friends saying, "Omg I was not expecting that to happen!"
Spoiler:
the part with Neville killing the snake.
Has my generation really sunken that low? Because an entire party of Teenage Poppers and what ever you call em don't read the sign that says "Please leave your phone off and please no freaking talking."
Now I am usually not annoyed by this. I enjoy the occasional person that stands up and starts clapping when a villian gets killed in an awesome way.
Spoiler:
Like in LOTR Fellowship when Lurtz gets his head cut off, everyone in the theater stood up and started clapping, now I loved that because that was my first real film that i watched with my entire family of 20 people...
But Seriously? The entire time, of just crying and thinking what was going to happen next lady.... just ticked me off. Now That my rant on the social collapse and such, has anyone ever had that Annoying Person or Chap talk during the most important parts of the movie?
Please post your opinion on the matter...
Keep it G guys.
Other than this, I love theaters, More of experince though only problem is if you go with my brother who is a film maker he always finds a way to say "Eh its okay. Could of been different."

It happens occasionally, best thing is just to ignore the problem unless you want to enrage the talker leading an even bigger distraction (ie. them using the stupid tactic of yelling "Your mum", "No you", etc for the rest of the movie).

From a former Assistant Manager for Odeon Cinemas (i.e. me).
For starters, avoid Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon screenings especially 12A certificate films. This should ensure that you don't cross paths with the vast majority of brats.
If you still happen across one in your screening, try politely asking them to stop. This generally works with people who aren't sociopaths or teenagers.
Another approach that works with teenagers is to walk up to them and ask them in a firm tone to come with you. If they've been messing about, they will look guilty and follow. Escort them to ticket check or equivalent, explain the situation and suggest the brats get refunds to leave the screen. I have actually done this since leaving my cinema employment.

This is similar to what I have done in the past. It's surprising how effective a firm and authoritative tone can be.

There was one instance here in the UK during the last harry potter movie I think that a woman confronted a group of teenagers being disruptive in the film and they were thrown out. They then waited for her to leave the cinema to which they called into a bar after the film (the woman and her family) to which these scroats then entered and threw bleach in her face and blinded her in one eye.

The poll is bs. There's no option for "Yes, and I did something about it instead of sitting there like a nancy boy."

not quite like the OP's experience, but when The Chamber of Secrets came out in cinemas, my family went to see it.
During the scene in the actual chamber, there is a part where the basilisk (read 100ft snake) gets distracted, and you think he's disappeared, having read the books, I knew better as I knew about the bit afterwards involving a sword, my brother however didn't.
When the giant snake makes his dramatic reappearance by bursting out of a small lake, my brother screamed.
Not gasped, or jumped, but honest to goodness screamed.

As for the OP, no, I don't have this problem, my local movie theater is where all the drunk teenagers go to hang out, listen to Ipods, scream and holler, and various stuff. I don't go to the theater.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

No.
No no no.
NO.
One woman gets bleach to the face, so everyone just shuts up and puts up with the selfish blighters in society? So there's no reprimand or disincentive to acting poorly with no consideration towards your fellow man? So we all just learn to accept whatever behaviour anyone chooses to exhibit, regardless of detriment to the experience we spend our hard earned money on? No. What happened to that woman was horrific, but it was rare. Almost every other time you'll get no bleach, no stabbings, no violence at all. Instead you'll get some rowdy teens who have learnt that it is not acceptable to behave that way in a public cinema, or on a bus, or some such. Teens are not roving gangs of psycopaths. They are just children. The majority of them pose no threat to you and will only keep pushing you to see how far you will go. So show them how far you go. Some might say that it's best to ignore it. Some might say that the slight risk is still too great. Some might claim that it's better to have an easy life and just write it off.
I say no.

me and a mate were sitting watching and enjoying the film.
Behind us and to the right were 2 guys and a girl and to my right was an irish fella.
The two guys/girl started talking loudly on mobiles/to eachother in strong Jamaican accents during the film. So the Irish guy asked them to be quiet politely.
They continued, he tried again more forcefully, they swore at him.
Finally after ten minutes of them talking loudly the Irish guy literally jumped over the seats landing next to them and said "STFU or I AM GOING TO SORT YOU OUT RIGHT NOW"
They shut up very quickly and he calmly climbed back over and sat back down.
Another incident this time during the Silent Hill movie in which a teenager kept shouting to impress his mates. A skin head walked over to him, threw a can of coke in his face then sat back down. That also served to illicit silence.
My final and favorite mini story was during Lord of the rings Two towers, one of the first screenings.
Some woman during the film started clucking like a hen and shouting how the film was not suitable for children/how we should all be ashamed.
Eventually she left the movie tugging her EIGHT year old behind her....not suitable for children yet she brought her kid to see a 12 movie...clever!

Same thing happened to me at part two over the weekend. 6 high school aged kids behind me. I just turn around and flatly say "stop talking." Works 100% of the time. Of course being 6 foot 6 and about 280 pounds helps a wee bit.

I find most adults who behave that way to be easily intimidated actually. They usually mutter a few phrases under there breath but they get the hint. Now mind you its all just a show. I am about as nice a guy as they come and would never even throw a punch, but if you act the part it generally works.
