Subject: So I was watching Harry Potter Part 2..... Theater Experiences...
We went to see Harry Potter yesterday and had no such problem. But some people seemed to need the toilet rather a lot. There was a group of about half a dozen people further along the row of seats than us all in their 20-30s and I think every one got up at least once to go to toilet. We managed to get through the film without going once. I just thought it was a bit strange once we had to squeeze to one side for about the fifth time.
Couldn't believe how young some kids were in it, it was a school day so most people were at least in college but at least one person brought in a few pre-schoolers. There was no problems with behaviour but I thought it might be a bit much for 3 and 4 year olds.
There were a few fangirls going 'squee' when Harry and Ron took their shirts off.

More Alamo Drafthouse anti talking goodness. I really wish there was one closer to me because I like them a lot. They are just too far away from where I live and trying to get to them on the bus which is my main form of transportation is right out. Why, oh why can they not build one inside the city here in Houston.

I try to go to the first showing on a Sunday morning. There tends to not be too many people about.
Really hate cinemas. Cost a fortune - for that money they should screen customers and actively monitor cinemas for people being idiots and chuck them out.

I think that I may have had the same woman sitting next to me when I saw it. She was with what I assumed to be her son, and I could tell she was going to be one of those people when she told me to move my legs away from her and then proceeded to steal my arm rest-I was in the bloody Grovner cinema...where you sit in couches seperate from one another. So yeah, the usual giving the running commentary through the whole thing, being the only one clapping/being hysterical etc (hell it wasn't even the best movie, and heresy to the books or so I've heard). Pft, I ended up telling her to shut the feth up and reminded her that the staff don't put up with people that are going out of they're way to be douches- they're grouchy students see. My mate Imran apparently had a guy that kept kicking him sitting next to him aswell, but he'd had a bad week (rule, never work for the Strathclyde police force; they're gits) so I'll assume he sorted his issue out pretty effeciently.

I've turned around and asked people to be quiet a few times, most times I never heard anything from them again. Only time it didn't work was during the last LotR film, he was quiet for a long stretch before he started talking again, I asked him and his parents for him to be quiet, and despite the parent doing nothing he was quiet for a long time, before getting really restless and talkative during the 97 endings. After the movie the parent approached me as everyone was leaving the cinema and told me I was not at all understanding, and that their kid did very well for making so little noise during a 3 hour movie, I replied that their kid had done very well, but the parent had done very poorly for bringing a small child to a really long movie, and for not even trying to teach their child not to talk during the movies.
What a fether.

I think one of my best experiences in a theater was a similar situation. A few friends of I (most of us pretty sloshed) and like 5 other people in the theater watching the day the earth stood still at a really late showing. Everyone sat there cracking jokes the entire time mystery science theater 3000 style... it was way better than actually watching the movie.

Actually, nobody really talked/texted/etc during HP2, but about two-thirds of the way in there was a person snoring very audibly. In the action scenes he was drowned out easily, but in the quiet, tense moments it was a bit bothersome. Unfortunately the guy next to me got pretty pissed about it, clapped his hands once and said loudly "Dude wake up!" Naturally this caused more of a disturbance than the snoring and when people shushed him his defense was "Well the shouldn't be sleeping!" I think it worked since the noise stopped, but twenty minutes later the snoring resumed.

I don't mind theater goers getting loud or yelling/cheering at appropriate moments ( Brody killing the shark, Vader chucking the Emperor off that ledge), don't really mind catcalls or snappy remarks during films, don't even mind whistles/sighs at attractive people on screen...
But what will drive me to frenzy is people just yap yap yapping about whatever crap is going on in their little lives while the movie is showing...
Don't care about your buddy and who he's sleeping with...don't give a damn about the shoes you just bought....shut the feth up and watch the movie.

The most exciting thing like this that has ever occurred to me was seeing the Dark Knight with a pal of mine and having a guy next to us sort of talking to himself for most of the movie, not even about the movie just about life and stuff. At one point he got a call and answered it during the film, talked for a good 15 mins then remembered he was at a movie, said as much, and hung up. It was very odd

People seemed to get pretty annoyed at me and my best bud during The Mist when we started cheering at the end when the army rolled in just after the guy killed his son and close friends...
Also, I noticed that some of the folks around me and my mates while we were watching Inglorious Basterds were getting uncomfortable with the amount of laughter coming from us during the gory/killy scenes.... its a Tarantino film, how do you NOT laugh?
Maybe we should stop drinking before movies...

Like I said, I'm all for happy mediums and would more than accept laughter during " gory bits" ( hell I laugh myself)..
Anyone who expects an entire theater of people to totally conform to their desired "shhh" level should just stay home and wait for the DVD...forays into public just isn't their thing obviously.
But...as I said before, there are lines and people should know ( or at least have some idea) where they are....If a person is just going to run their mouth/ talk on the phone during the whole film....get the hell out and go chit chat in the parking lot.

I had lots of problem...
You think talking and texting is bad? Try screaming. People make an inordinate amount of noise after you gut them, it really does ruin the experience for everyone involved. I had to kill another 20-30 people before I could watch the movie in peace...

I booked my ticket about a week before, all was good.
Then my older sister (who has a crazy fear of me going to cinema on my own,at the age of 20).
So she gets a ticket for the same night and comes along.
:-(
Man the reason I go on my own is because every two minutes it's "Who's he?" and "What's that?" and "Is he dead?"

When I went to see Norbit with Eddie Murphy, the theater goers rallied together in the face of that terrible movie. About 20 maybe 30 people were just cracking jokes to each other about how bad that movie is.

I remember one time there was a few 14 year old kids in the theater sitting behind my buddies n I, they kept kicking our seats and talking very loudly during the movie, so naturally i jumped to my feet spun around and was ready to yell bloody murder at them when my knife fell out of my pocket..... shut the kids up really well but i got kicked out for having a "concealed weapon".
Afterwards when the rest of my buddies caught up to me after the movie (cant remember what it was but i said i did not know them so they could stay n watch) they told me that the kids behind us were frightened as all hell to continue being little gak disturbers.
