ok... I have again been throwing around some ideas and would like a bit of CC...

HQ:

Rune Priest w/ chooser - Lightning and Storm caller
Rune Priest w/ Hurricane and Tempest

Troops:

2 x 6 GH w/ banner, melta & motw in rhino
+ WG w/ PF & combi Melta
2 x 5 GH w/ plasguns in Razerback
+ WG w/ combi plasma

Fast:

4 x TWC w/ SS/TH, SS, melta bombs, naked

Heavy:

Predator w/ Autocannon & lascannon sponsons
2 x 6 LF w/ 5 ML in TL/lascannon razerbacks

comes to 1747pts

where do people see weaknesses?

what would be a bad matchup?

The primary area I see weakness is your Grey Hunters. You are making a show of having some units in Rhinos and giving them some melee gear, but they are undersized for the task at hand. They need to have a few extra models or they risk being overwhelmed by larger units.

Also, on the smaller packs, are those Razorbacks standard Heavy Bolters, or are they TL Las or LasPlas? If they are standard Heavy Bolters you might want to consider dropping one to upgrade the other and beef out the packs in Rhinos. The Heavy Bolter Razorbacks don't add a whole lot and shouldn't be taken unless you absolutely cannot get the points to upgrade their turret.

ok then

how about this:

HQ:

Njal

Elites:

5 x Wolf Scouts w/ melta

Troops:

1 x 8 GH w/ melta, standard, motw in Rhino
+ WG w/ PF & combi melta
2 x 5 GH w/ melta in Assbacks
+ WG w/ PF & combi melta

Fast:

3 x TWC w/ TH/SS, SS, melta bombs

Heavy:

1 x Predator w/ auto cannon & lascannon sponsons
2 x 6 LF w/ 5 ML in TL lasbacks

how would that work?

EDIT: troops added... that was plain weird... added them and they disapeared... must be a Mead shop somewhere about!

I think you may have missed your 'troops' selection in the re-write. Because I don't see any in the new list.

I think you would be better off going back to the 2 Rune Priests instead of Njal. You don't have enough Grey Hunters to support him properly, and he requires a LOT of support to function. I usually run him with 3x packs of 8 with pack leaders and 2x packs of 5 at 2,000 points, as well as 2 additional Rune Priests to help cover him.

What I was originally suggesting would look something like this:

Rune Priest (Chooser, LL, MH) - 110
Rune Priest (Meltabomb, MH, TW) - 105
3 Wolf Guard (2x Power Fist, 3x Combi-Melta) - 109
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino) - 170
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino) - 170
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ TL Las) - 155
2 Thunderwolves (Thunder Hammer, 2x Storm Shields) - 190
2 Thunderwolves (Thunder Hammer, 2x Storm Shields) - 190
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers, Razorback w/ TL Las) - 215
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers, Razorback w/ TL Las) - 215
Predator (Autocannon, TL Lascannons) - 120
Total 1,749

Besides making the changes to your infantry, if you are going to run Thunderwolves without a Wolf Lord you should consider running them with proper equipment in a configuration that will allow them to deal with multiple threats and force your opponent to focus on them instead of the rest of your army, or risk letting a pair of S10 Thunder Hammers shred their tanks

Hope that helps!

Just another quick question though...

Motw vs a extra Grey Hunter?

I prefer an extra Grey Hunter. 2x Grey Hunters have 6 attacks when charging and 2 wounds. 1x Grey Hunter with Mark of the Wulfen has 3-8 attacks (I think) with an average of 6.5 and only 1 wound. The attacks are Rending of course, but I prefer the extra wound and the guaranteed attacks. Then again, if you roll a 1 with Mark of the Wulfen on a turn you used your Wolf Standard, you can re-roll it.

I only ever include Mark of the Wulfen in my Grey Hunter packs if I have the points to do so after I have filled the transports with models and have included everything else I want in the list.

There's no need to fear, underdog is here! I kid.

Basically Aldarionn nailed everything I would have suggested so there really is no need to make too many changes at this point.

I will say though that I prefer a Mark of the Wulfen Grey Hunter over 2 for a couple of reasons:

1) Helps with wound allocation
2) Rending is priceless

Yes, I know the probability is not in my favor but when you're hoping for that 6 against a monstrous creature, you want it to mean something over before they take their 3+ save. This is just a matter of how I play though. (This coming from the same guy who assaulted a 10 man Purifier squad with Njal, Rune Priest, 12 Grey Hunters and 2 attached Wolf Guard)
