Anyone hear anyhing about the next codex afer necrons, the general belief where im at is Black Templars(in part because of GW's format with codexs' marine then xenos, and since BT are the oldest marine codex thats the most resonable route. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Yeah, Tau (unless you consider a WH White Dwarf article a codex)

Two Xenos codexes in a row? Heresy!

I thought they might do Black Templars after Necrons (not counting Sisters)

Sisters are getting a WD codex.

It'll certainly be a boost to those two armies, a much needed vitalization, but with next edition not too many winters off I can't help but feel a pity for them as they will most likely suffer like Eldar and Orks are doing in the current edition. Sort of up to date, but many units will simply be obsolete.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Current rumors point to a potential Chaos Codex, not a replacement for the old one. It's called Chaos Legions. I think you can work out it's rough contents from there.

Frankly, there's no definite answer. Tau could be wrong, the above could be wrong.

I definately agree that BT dont need it till 6ed but,(for various reasons), they are an extreemly underestimated army, they have lots of tricks that people dont really know about because they are a nonfrequently found army. i would deifnately like to see what there going to do with the codex, but all i have to say is if Matt Ward writes it i think i will lose my mind. I also agree with Tau they need it and also from what i have heard about WH is they will be WD.

Off subject sry;
Oh and BTW they should be beefy with their new codex because for crying out loud, who did GW put at the front of the GW picture you see everywhere (out of all the games and all the armies that GW has) ITS HELBRECT better make him better then Drago, rofl at that though i did a roll-off with a Marshal with a adamantite mantle, hammer, and SS, being about half the points of drago and killed drago 2 times over with not a single wound inflicted on the marshal so for all those drago fans out there HA! HA! HA!

I'm hopeful that with the changes GW has made to manufacturing, that we can start to see more than 2 Codex books a year...

My biggest gripe isn't what army needs a new codex, it is how many are left behind and not updated before a new edition comes out. Nobody complained when 4th Edition came out, because ALL of the codex books (and a couple bonus codex books) had been published. However, since the start of 4th edition, we've been reduced to sit and wait patiently for each new book.

They already have one, it's called Codex Space Marines.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Thats a slight insult to say that BT can use CSM, because BT have such a great fluff that no BT player i know would ever join the ranks of the codex chapters it would be an insult sigismund and all the most zealous brothers out there that follow his path. As for the RB hing i agree wholeheartedly its kind of a pain how GW is doing things for sure.

It's currently SoB in white dwarf next month, necrons in nov, and after that should be Chaos legions. After that it gets sketchy and could be either tau/eldar/BT/DA.

I've heard Tau, I've heard Black Templars, I've heard Chaos. (After Sisters of Battle in the White Dwarf, of course.) I haven't heard any definitive statement from an official source, however.

There was talk about Blackreach getting replaced by a new "starter set" that starred Dark Angels, of all things.

Anyone know whatever happened with that?

I heard Black Templars in the new box set, but again, not from an official source. And I absolutely refuse to believe that the box starter set is going to be anything other than (vanilla) Space Marines vs [something else] until I see it. Space Marine players are just too big a slice of the pie to deal them out like that.

Ya, I seriously doubt they would ever kick ultramarines off the top of the hill. It would be amazing if it did happen though!

Well what i heard about the new box set is that there will be no loyalist imperial forces in it at all so who knows, this wasint a hard sourse by any means but none the less it throughs an entirely new aspect out there.( Dont expect it to happen but would be interesting)

I was hoping for Black Templars or Black Angels or Ultramarines.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

The rumors since last year were Necrons around Halloween.

As for next up?

There is a rumor about Chaos Legions that sounds Plausible for 1Q2012. Tau is certainly deserving of a Codex. Dark Angels or Black Templars are also aging.

With 6th Edition rumored to be out in Summer 2012, I'd prefer my Black Templars come out AFTER the new edition. But that's me being greedy.

There's actually no tangible evidence that Necrons are next, so anything beyond it is ethereal.

If it is Tau, then most of their upgrades had better still be useful come 6th edition ¬.¬

I don't want to be writing up my next list on the crapper, and find my eyes wandering folornly over the archaic references to random 5th edition rules that didn't carry over.

At least if they're done a bit into 6th edition, I can take on the role of Rules Grandpa to all the young un's, weaving tales of the mythical target priority tests and whatnot whilst sucking on a piece of hard candy and leaving...

...large, unnecessary gaps between words.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
