So yeah, I want to attend a tournament at some point and I have to base all of my 105 (!) un-based clanrats... THing is, I've already painted every single one of them and I'm not going to go through that process again if I have to prime the basing.
All I want is to make them really basic, just sand and maybe some grass afterwards.

So is it possible to do this and do you guys have any nice tips on doing it efficently?

It is indeed. Plan what kind of a look you want for your army first, rather than just whacking on a whole bunch of GW static grass on. I recommend Woodland Scenics flock, a mix of some fine and course flock, then occasional patches of static grass. Looks lovely.

That's the mossy stuff you can get from Woodland Scenics too.

Here is my recommmended process for you.

Step 1 - Paint the bases Schorched brown.

Step 2 - Lay down a somewhat thick layer of PVA glue overtop the schorcehed brown.

Step 3 - Before the glue drys dip the base of the model into some sand.

Step 4 - Shack of the excess and allow the glue to dry.

Step 5 - Dip the base in scenic cement, all dip until you reach the top of the sand.

Step 6 - Superglue on some Army Painter tufts for varity.

Step 7 - Repaint the rim of the base black.

A great way I do dirt is just glue sand to the base, and then wash it devlan mud...makes it darker, but keeps the varied natural colors of the sand so it looks pretty good. You could always just glue some green flock on top of it afterwards for grass.

Easiest way to do basing is to just glue on some basing grit with PVA glue while the model's on the base, after assembly but before priming. Then, prime the whole thing your color of choice, and paint the basing with a 2 layer drybrush. After painting the miniature and any varnishing, glue on a bit of grass with PVA glue again.

If you want it fast and you've already painted them, just paint the basses Bestial Brown, and cover the top in grass. Looks fine for rank and file models.

Take literally 30 seconds and drybrush that Bestial Brown with some Bleached Bone and you're golden

I put down white glue and sand the base. When the glue is dry, I cover the sand generously with Awesomepaintjobs Armor Wash to lock in all the sand - soaks it right up. Then I just drybrush dark brown, light brown and bone color on the base, add a few dabs of glue and sprinkle a bit of static grass on there.

Voila, a nice looking base in a few, simple steps.

Have a good one,

I'm picturing Chuck Heston in the Ten Commandments literally throwing sand and flock across a room at a few models on a desk while bellowing "LET THERE BE BASING" from the top of his lungs.
