Hi there, Warhammer Forge’s range already includes an abundance of great models and this week’s new release is no exception. Magisterix Elspeth von Draken on Carmine Dragon is a powerful wizard who rides an equally dangerous mount and is available now to pre-order. As well as details of this stunning new addition to our range, we also have an events update for you covering the rapidly approaching Games Day Chicago and Games Day Germany. Magisterix Elspeth von Draken on Carmine Dragon Magisterix Elspeth von Draken on Carmine DragonFor three generations, the noble and gutter-scum of Nuln alike have whispered tales of the ‘Graveyard Rose’ Elspeth von Draken, Magisterix of the Amethyst College and arch-wizard of the Lore of Death. Von Draken is born of a long bloodline touched by the Winds of Magic, a bloodline that has produced both heroes and monsters in its time, and the Dark Lady of Nuln is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Amethyst wizards of the age. Appearing as a spectre of death, gowned in robes so black as to be woven from shadow and bearing a keening scythe, forged with Dark magic, Magisterix von Draken has long been a hidden defender of the Empire, and her life and acts in its defence are shrouded in both secrecy and suspicion. Magisterix Elspeth von Draken on Carmine Dragon is a magnificently detailed resin kit comprising both Trish Carden’s hugely popular, majestic, Carmine Dragon and Edgar Skomorowski’s jaw-droppingly detailed Magisterix von Draken. Sculpted side-saddle on a towering throne etched with detailed iconography of the Amethyst College and surrounded by alchemical familiar-cherubs, this amazing model is perhaps the most detailed character figure yet released by Warhammer Forge. Experimental rules for this potent wizard and her equally devastating mount can be downloaded from the Forge World website, taken from the forthcoming Warhammer Forge expansion book Tamurkahn: The Throne of Chaos, Magisterix Elspeth von Draken on Carmine Dragon is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 25th July. Warhammer Forge at a Games Day near you! The full range of Warhammer Forge products released so far this year will be on sale at Games Day Chicago on 30th July and Games Day Germany in Cologne on 7th August. Both shows will have the Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith show only model available to purchase alongside Forge World’s MkIII Armoured Boarding Space Marine. Mark Bedford will be joining Forge World model designer Will Hayes at Games Day Chicago, while Warhammer Forge sculptors Steve Whitehead and Keith Robertson, as well as graphic artist Sam Lamont, will be attending Games Day Germany. We look forward to seeing you there! Thanks, Ead Brown Customer Service Manager Forge World

I find the model good, but as before a little underwhelming but have anyone read her rules 8D. She is one master of death tbh.

Cool enough model.. The dragon is amazing, yet the wizard has no save. Why would the most powerful death mage hop on a huge target and not even bother with a ward? Its sad how one thing always makes FW rules so bad :( Granted, the whole combo is only 70 more pts than a normal level 4 wizard on a dragon.. and that dragon is one of the best in the game
D3 wounds S10-Toughness flame template? Sounds pretty damn good to me.. Or charge into combat against multi wound models, hit them with 2d6 auto hits
Shes gonna get replaced fast at the colleges of magic if she doesnt find a ward save tho

I really looked before posting. Just looked again and still had a hard time finding it. Perhaps if the other thread wasn't badly mislabeled I would have spotted it. As for the better format, thanks. I try to elevate this place as much as I can with some practicality, usefulness and decorum. There is way too much useless junk around and it tends to dominate, which is why my participation is scant at times. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/ELSPETH-VON-DRAKEN-ON-CARMINE-DRAGON.html More pics:

This is the same dragon they had earlier, right?
I like the face on the rider. Actually, I like most of the details. The only thing I don't like is the premise. It always looks silly to see someone casually sitting on the back of a raging behemoth that flies through the air, especially when they inevitably have a giant, high-backed chair and no seatbelt.
But they've executed the silly concept just about as well as possible.

My brain was on vacation... being Friday and all.
Where did I come up with Newsletter 6? I think I was imagining a nice cold six pack with the temperature currently sitting at #11.
Anyhow, I do like this model and may have to consider adding it as the centerpiece of my Empire army.

What I find interesting is the mention of releasing a Warhammer Forge expansion - probably not dissimilar to Imperial Armor.

Would look better with the wings in a more take off/landing/posturing pose, and what is up with the woman's right arm? It looks all shriveled and strange (perhaps a badly fitting glove?). Otherwise there is some nice detailing.

Its the absurdity of it all that makes her so awesome. Undead, babies...check. Death motif...check. Scythe...check. Uses dark magic...check. Hmmm...how is she not a necromancer? She's should be aligned with VC.
I love everything about the rider. But that dragon is still pants!
If only I could just buy the rider...sob. Anybody know if she's a separate part? If she is I'd buy the kit and self off the dragon.

I agree Sersi. I really don't think it would take much conversion at all to get her in a VC army, heck put her on a new zombie dragon just for effect and you could have a new dark sexy female goth Count.

I dunno why the carmine dragon gets such a hard time, It's better looking than any other citadel dragon bar the great firedragon, which is three times the price, though the upcomming VC dragon looks pretty cool too.

You don't even need to do that.
Read the description of the Carmine dragon.
Carmine Dragons are strange and rare beasts even amongst their storied kin, born, it is said, when a dragon's lair is saturated by the Amethyst wind of Death; the power of Shyish gathering and magnifying within the heart and soul of the beast yet to hatch.
Carmine Dragons, sometimes known in dark legend as Encarmine Dragons, are named for their scales, which darken from a deep, ruby red when young to a purple so dark as to be almost black when they age, and many ancient tales hold them as spectres of death.
One could make the argument that Carmine Dragons are, in fact, living avatars of Death.
