Tomorrow is the individual time trial and Evans is 57 seconds behind the race leader Andy Schleck and four seconds behind Frank Schleck. Evans is a far superior time trialer than either of the Schleck brothers. I hope Evans wins.

Well done to Cadel Evans on his victory! The first Aussie (or person from the southern hemisphere for that matter) to win the Tour de France. The purist in me wishes he had taken a stage victory during the race but no matter.

Also still proves that the French are not capable of putting up a Tour winner, what is it now, since 1983 that a Frenchman last won?

Cadel Evans, from what I was able to see of the tour, was a strong rider throughout, and was able to keep himself in the position to win the way he did. Goes to show that it's not about the Contadores or Leipheimers needing a couple good performances, but rather the whole 3 week race.

He is only the third non european to win the tour.

He was world champion at mountainbike riding but broke his collarbone in the lead up to the Sydney olympics, before that happened he would ride his mountainbike vs road bikers on road training and they couldn't keep up.

He is also the oldest winner since WW2.

Well it's about time! He's come second twice, and would have done well last year if not for the crash (and a not-so-good team backing him up), so he deserves it.

Well done Cadel.
