Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Just wondering what people would think of my planned BA scaling lists (1000, 1500 and 2000). I was going to combat squad the AM's to 5 men, then have them being each lead by a Priest, the Librarian leading the honour guard, and Asteroth leading the second 5 man Death Company unit.

Basically going to drop down near to the enemy (preferably behind cover ) and then jump out, shoot and assault them.

C&C welcome.

Unfortunately I don't like the look of Sanguinary Guard

Could always "counts as" some guys in fancier armour though. What kind of lists do you suggest I have incorporating them?

Ok where to start.

First never take Epistolary if you taking Blood lance and shield, you can already cast them both.

You may cast 1 power per turn (Player Turn) so you can cast lance your turn, shield opponets turn.

im a fan of the Honor guard, though i would max it at 4x melta or 4x Plasma, depends on your meta.. for mech 5th id lean toward melta.

To many Priests, drop it down to maybe 2 at most. keep them cheap, drop the power weapon unless you have free points at the end.

In the 2k points, Vanguard Vets are a better option with Fist/hammer and 2 ish power weapons. DoA with assault on deepstrike can be lethal.

Consider 2x Libbies, they are cheap, blood lance is amazing, shield is amazing.

More Troop assault marines the better, try to at least have 40 ish at 2k points to survive the drop with enough scoring.

you will most likely be dumping into the middle the gak, stuff is gonna die.

Unfortunately your 2000pt list is illegal as you may only have one unit of Death Company.

Things I have learnt from reading DoA list reviews:

The smart people say that Vanguard Veterans are invaluable in an all jumper DoA army. You give each unit a couple of storm shields and little else and use them to tar pit nasty units. Placed right they will get to assault over 2/3 of the time after deep striking.

The smart people also say that jump pack DC are the biggest point sink in the codex.

Instead of power weapons on the Priests consider lightning claws. They are already WS5 and so will be hitting marines and other WS4 opponents on a 3+ instead of 4+. The re-roll to wound might be more helpful than than the extra attack.

Drop one of the priests. You need enough priests to create enough FnP/Furious charge bubbles such that every unit is covered. You should not be spreading your tiny army out that wide that 3 priests plus the noviate can't cover everyone.

Astrorath the Grim allows you to take more than one DC squad.

i would not use sang guard, and not use DC.

add in more honor guard or some van guard vets with just some wargear, maybe one or two pfs.

I agree with the advice previously posted, except I would not take Sanguinary Guard unless you really like the models or something.

I especially agree that Jump Pack DC Marines are a massive points sink. At the very least, play a few games proxying them with something before you buy, and magnetize the backpacks.

Something else you might consider is Devastators. Three squads of 4x Missile Devs can work in an all-infantry list, if you start on the table instead of deep striking.

Giving Priests CC weapons is a risky move, as well. You really want them alive, so you should be trying to keep them out of base-to-base. If you have extra points, I think it's ok, but I wouldn't drop other stuff to fit them in.

Current Record: 5 Wins, 6 Draws, 3 Losses 2000 points
