**Small, Far Away**

So my WOC army has begun, but what I need to know, is, quite simply, how do I kit out a lord or hero well.

Marks? Jugger? Manticore (which I'll be buying anyway)? Special Weapons? What works well for ya'.

For a Khorne Lord, you can try:

Lord w/ MoK, Juggernaut, Rending Sword, Helm of Many Eyes, Talisman of Preservation - 375pts

MR(1), 1+/4+, ASF (with I7, you'll likely be re-rolling failed hits against all but Elves), re-rolling failed wounds in combat and with 6 S5 attacks from the Lord and 2 from the Jugger.

Only drawbacks are Frenzy, Stupidity from the Helm (but you're Ld9 anyway) and the fact you'll be a giant cannon magnet.

For a sorcerer I like something around 420 ish depending on the options

if tali then charmed shield or e shield
power familiar
disc
roar or stream

hero hmm 215

bsb
mot
tali of end
e shield
iron curse icon
stream of corruption
works like a charm he is one tough cookie.

Just my personal favorits.

What about dragonfire helm instead of ironcurse icon? Same points, +1 save (thats worth five points in itself) and 2+ ward agains flaming attacks.

I see no reason why not as if you drop Eshield and take the helm and a basic sheild its the same points and you can still have ironcurse

Is the Favor of the Gods worth taking, because that looks really useful for 5 points.

The build I've been using for my Troll army which seems to be working extremely well is:

Chaos Lord- MoK, Juggernaught, Runesword, Armour of Destiny, Shield- 385

And the only reason I use Armour of Destiny instead of Talisman of Pres is because I give that to my BSB. Regardless, he still has a 1+/4+ save and an awsome 7 WS 9 STR 6 attacks. He plows all over other characters.

I prefer a lord with mok set up a lil different.
Lord
mok
jugger
rending sword
helm of many eyes
tali of pres.

I run my bsb as mot with tali of endurance.

The favor is not that great on something other than chosen sicne if you run into a horde the lord can easily pull a rank of since he usually re rolls to hit against everything but HE ususally and re rolls to wound a pile of attacks.

Whats not to like stick him with a unit of mok knights with fc and the +1 movement standard and you have a unit shredder.

I ran him once his unit was not dealt with and well that was not a good idea.
The units has such a huge number of attacks that it just makes a mess.

I generally run my guy with a unit of 8 Drogres and it ends up the same way

With so many wounds in that unit, they usually can't deal with it in time anyways.

Should try that myself but unlike you I dont have any kicking around added to my to get list right after 18 trolls

Then going to get more juggers to see how many juggers I can get in a list muahaha

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have a way to affect what I get from EotG on every roll than a ward save vs. warmachines, especially if you're running Tzeentch chosen, as they'll have a ward already.

The diffrence between a 6+ ward and a 3+ ward on chosen is behond huge.... also Iron Curse with MoT is great for a hero to have in a warrior unit (as you will be getting shot by a cannon/stonethrower atleast once) Also EotG is just better on chosen as they get the roll right away instead of having to earn it (which is something my chaos lord has ever done twice in the 15 odd games I played using a chaos lord)

What would be a decent build for an Exalted on Steed of Slaanesh that plans to run around on his own?

It depends on what he'll be doing.

Since he's fast cavalry, giving him Bloodcurdling Roar and having him Vanguard up a flank to harass flankers or warmachine might be best. It lacks the protection of a Juggernaut though, and sticking it inside a Chaos Knight unit for protection pretty much make it an overcosted chaos steed.

You could put him with other fast cavalry like marauder cavalry, but they're not great anymore. Nevertheless, giving him a Halberd, Bloodcurdling Roar and using the 50/100pts (A Lord on a boobsnake would, in my opinion, be quite wasteful) of magic items for whatever else you feel could go well with a marauder cavalry unit of about 10 with flails could make a reasonable flanking unit; only problem is that it uses up valuable points for Sorcerers or more effective Hero/lord builds.

Maybe give him a ward save since he can and will attract some cannon fire.

Some weapons would be good to something that can take out war machines and rear charge.

for a lord i simply just love giving him mok + jugger, hel of many eyes, + 3 attack sword pure awesomeness.
for a sorcerer lord i always go for tali of preservation, enchanted shield, no mark, spell familiar and conjoined homunculus. it's fun and effective and you almost always get the spells you want

Any opinions on the manticore? Thinking of buying the new kit but wondering whether anything should ride it, or if I should instead just use it as a monster of some kind and place the lord on something else.

I would get the manticore just for the model.
Like have you seen the bits soooooo awesome.
Why not run it in SoM on like a bsb or something or just paint it because its cool.

That's my point, that scythe and shield and helmets are gorgeous. I am just wondering if it is worth to have someone ride it.

I dont really know but still those are more than enough reason.
If you really wanted to I'm sure you can make him effective.
It is a gorgeous model and it would make a great center piece of the army unless you have a FW blood thirster towering over him

...No, I do not have a FW bloodthirster towering above him. Didn't plan to, either...

Supposedly I could magnetize the rider onto its back and elsewhere use it as just a manticore or (for when my bray-shaman use tranformation of kadon) as whatever he wants to become. Win-win either way.

You could pin him easier and sticks better than magnets.
Just a thought.
