You're asking does it make sense fluff-wise?

I don't see why it shouldn't be a possibility, but it would obviously be extremely unusual(becuase afaik, the Officio Assasnorium works far outside the line of your typical IG force).

I would also assume(maybe I'm wrong here) that Vindicares would either work alone, or in teams of only Vindicares(and not, say, a select few marksman from some IG regiment).

One way to work it into your army's fluff is to establish that the Vindicare is actually no longer an official member of his Ordo(Order?) -- perhaps he's a renegade that works in secret conjunction with a regiment to continue prosecuting the enemies of the Imperium.

Vindicares, and most assassins, work alone. Unless in extremely rare circumstances. Fluff wise, it wouldn't even make too much sense honestly.

The role of a Vindicare is to remove the need for IG involvement, usually through the surgical removal of important enemy personnel (heretic cult leaders, charismatic mutant revolutionaries, recidivist politicians, and so forth) by means of an Exitus rifle round to the dome.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

While the previous posters are totally correct, if you're playing a friendly game and you can make up a reason for it, and your opponent doesn't mind, then go for it.

I would just say the assassin has been dispatched to the front lines of whatever conflict to end things by taking out the enemy leader. The Guard don't even know he's there.

There is no legal way to do this now.

when the DH and WH codices were still valid(WH has mearly days left) you could take an Assassin using the Ally rules found in those codices, but now those are invalid and you can't do it any more.

They can be used in whatever codeci they are present.
AFAIK this is currently only GK.
IG cannot have Assassins unless you are playing an apocalypse game, at which point you probably have bigger and more explodey problems.

Why would they have an equal?
Okay yeah they have MArbo but otherwise they have no reason for assassins.
The assassins are a delicate tool sent to remove a single and important life. The Imperial Guard are a hammer blow to the enemies of the Imperum, they don't need assassins.

Colossus batteries?
Deathstrike launchers?

Vindicare is the scalpel.
IG is the planet smashing hammer.

You don't use a hammer to peel a grape.

Couldn't have said it better. Now that i think of it it wouldnt make much sense. I have nover read the GK codex but if they used assassins to take out important targets why would they need to send in GK in the first place?

The GK codex has kinda turned into Codex Inquisition...
It's pretty crappy considering what a proper Inquisition codex could have been but go figure...
