Ok. apologies in advance if this has been answered before and for my noobieness.... I was reading in the Tau codex that the ASS (advanced stabilization system) gives tau access to the slow and purposeful rule which in turn gives access to the relentless rule.

It also states in the codex that these are "Jump Infantry (jet pack)"

Reverting to my rule book i checked that jump infantry using jet packs already have access to the relentless rule without having to go about in to the slow and purposeful way.

So I have heard some people recommend that I use ASS for the purpose or moving and shooting at full range.

I believe that I have that already, being a jetpack troop and I cant find mention anywhere that states otherwise.

My FLGS seems to agree in the usage but looking online here i have heard several times mention of the A.S.S. use so I would like to confirm once and for all
just so i don't go in to any games inadvertently breaking the rules.

please make the call

Thanks for reading this and taking the time to answer

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

The A.S.S is useless on XV8s. they are indeed relentless from their Jet Packs.

its in the battlesuit options so Broadsides can take them(who do NOT have Jump Packs) and move and fire their Railguns.

IIRC XV8 do not have "full" relentless as they cannot fire heavy weapons

But they dont have heavy weapons. Unless this also applies to full range rapid fire, I cant remember too well. But stealth suits do not have this extra rule so they are relentless with their Markerlights

As said, stabilizers is for XV88.

ASS is typically used with the XV88 Broadside which makes perfect sense since it is not a jet pack suit.

Frankly I have never seen anyone use ASS with the XV8 Crisis Suit since it is already relentless. It's most likely a nerfed rule issue with a older codex and current 5th addition rule set.

aha, Now I understand.

I did not think to apply it to the XV-88's. Now it makes good sense.

Thanks everyone for your informative and (as always) quick replies.

some of the forgeworld suits can tote heavy weapons, but otherwise it is a bit redundant (also i guess technically the FW suits aren't XV8s ).

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

myceat - its because the Crisis suits are NOT relentless: they have a special rule that overrides relentless for the case of heavy weapons only.
Good job they cannot take any...

The only reason that you would take ASS on the XV8s is so they don’t have to take dangerous terrain tests while moving into terrain. Not worth it.

And my post no. 1000!
