I did a search and couldn't find anything, so here goes.

Has anyone seen, or better yet, had any luck with lots of trolls for WoC. Using the special character you can make trolls core.
I'm fairly new, but they seem like they are pretty good, asside from being stupid and all. Most of all, they look fun, but I'm not sure if I would get totally run over in even friendly games though.

The idea was for an all Nurgle army, using the special character from forgeworld (the guy on the frog dragon) and the troll hero. 1 unit of warriors or chosen and lots of trolls.
Another reason I want to do this is so I can dual purpose the trolls as plague orgryn for 40k. Which brings me to another question, does anyone know of any square 40mm bases that could fit a 40mm round base in? I would think someone would of thought of that, especially with daemons being cross game.

So an army based around this guy and troooolls.

There are a couple throgg players on Dakka you just got to find them. On the roundbase/squarebase thing have you looked into the LOTR base things, if you got the big ones you could run troll units three wide and still be the proper size. The main reason most people dont do Throgg is how badly he hurts your wallet, but if thats not a issue a well built throgg lsit can be mean.

There are many ways you can run a Monster army and it will all come down to your preferences. Based on how I play, and the other Troll players here on Dakka (RiTides for example) play, its quite clear that most of the lists work, even though they are quite different.

Are you completely stuck on using the Warriors/Chosen or do you wan't to go for a complete Monster Mash Up?

Personally for 2500-3000 I run 3 units of 6 Trolls, a unit of Dragon Ogres (the size varies depending on how I feel that day), and Lords/Heroes that I converted up.

It seems to work wonders for me, but other people like to run the Troll Deathstar, Ogres, etc. It all works, and it depends on your preference.

Tamurkhan is a beauty by the way, I absolutely love mine!

Tamurkhan is just.. beastly. He'll be in my list for 3k.

Here is my 2250 list that I just wrote up. I'm a big nurgle fan, so I made this with a nugle theme monster mash. The trolls would be converted to be used as plague ogryn for 40k as well. : D

I think I'm going to use these guys and just a bit of converting/nurgleing, but they look pretty good to start with too, lol.

Gonna field them in 3x2 units and use that tray I have linked up top.

I used the River trolls myself, as do alot of people (even though it still costs a hell of alot to make an army out of it).

Unless your stuck on the Warriors, I would personally say take them out (I'm a very fluffly person. Its a curse, it really is) and beef up the Dragon Ogre unit. I tend to run a unit of 8 and they plow through almost anything.

Of course if you really want infantry I would suggest some Marauders, since there are some Roppsmen in Troll Country and Marauders would make perfect sense for that. Plus a large unit of Marauders would be a mass of fun.

I was really only wanting to use the warriors to have somewhere for festus to sit. Any other units that would be better for him? I'm not a huge fan of the marauder models to tell you the truth.

Any reason inparticular you want to use Festus? Or would a Nurgle Sorcerer suffice?

Marauders look sort of meh IMO you can hate all you want They are really effective tho thats a fact.

You are running a troll aarmy I want to see a horde of trolls as in 6 wide possibly 2 or 3 deep epic troll win.

Combine that with a jugger lord to run a bouts and jsut shred units by himself and you are set.

Mon over priced not effective go with mok or something else but mon not worth it sadly.

If you want festus in a useful unit suggestion.
18 man warriors unit mok halberds (shields possibly) flaming standard.
Park festus in that and you got well self explanitory. A ton of attacks at str 5 with flaming they will mess up everything

Also would drop the Ogres for more trolls.

I will definitely agree that Trolls riding Juggernaughts is a brutal thing, but if your stuck on the Nurgle thing, it might be kind of hard to explain...

A nurgle sorcerer would probably be fine. I was thinking of putting him on a palanquin and have him follow a large group of trolls to give them another leadership bubble. With that I could add a larger group of trolls for the king to be in, perhaps another 8 trolls and combine with one of the units of 6.

A Troll on Palanquin you say? I actually run one of those myself, though I count in as a BSB on Daemonic Steed. He needs to be able to keep up with the Trolls since movement 4 is no bueno.

Khorne lord kills more and has good ld also planquin kind of useless and sucks.

Troll on jugger OMG that is amazing haha LOVE IT.

Tz sorcerer is more effective since the disc can put him in a good position fast.
If you go nurgle sorcerer might as well go with festus and then just add a shadow sorcerer nad you are set drop the t and or str and then blast with curse and woot bye bye unit

I imagine at 1,000 points that would be too brutal for most armies to handle but I only really play 2500 or 3000 so Im not to sure.

Well, didn't want to drop 500 bucks right off, lol. Thought a 1000 point start would help me get off to a good start.

I already have 30 or so hounds, so I would "just" need 5 boxes of river trolls and I'll convert one to Throgg.

I had a plan a while back that I may try again soon using Minotaurs as trolls (same price and I miss the old BoC book and minotroops) But I would make the dog units even smaller (units of 5 hit teams) instead of 10

So after reading this thread do you think 4 Trolls are few?

I own only 4 Trolls, what can I do with them?

First off Raul your avatar is my favorite avatar I have seen on dakka. Secondly 4 trolls are great running next to your general/bsbs unit.

Regarding the Trolls, I tried that way with my Trolls but I found that my opponents usually attacked the Trolls instead of my main block, and for some reason they saved so many woaunds they ended the phase as real uber monsters... but broken ones as they constantly losed the combats, ran and were overrun or very far away of the Lord's Ld bubble to recover once more.

Maybe I need to give them a try once more.

What you need to do with the trolls is hold them a bit behind your lords unit so they can be your counter punch.
