So ive been thinking about starting an ork army and looking for the cheapest way to go about it
i was looking at getting the battle force and AOBR and sell the space marines or add them to my current blood angels army.
instead of buying several boxes or boyz. im looking at spending 145 for 6 boxes of boyz and a warboss-which is 60 boyz and a warboss.

and for the battle force and aobr would be 150 dollars. which gives me 40 boyz, 3 warbikes, a trukk, 3 deff koptas, 1 warboss, 5 nobz

im looking to go all choppy with some mech

500/1k point lists are welcome as well as financial advice.

Lol, not really sure what your asking for as it seems like you have the basis of your army started there. But I reccomend gretchins and lootas, both are relatively cheap and could be included fairly easily into most lists.

meh it was a dumb question i suppose. looking to spend around 175 for a new starting army. just looking at the the possibilities.

Im just looking for all the options available to me. with a budget. thats pretty much my question. i suppose just keep looking at lists and getting ideas and pricing the stuff online.

On a budget, AobR boyz are the cheapest options. Just build a footslogging list.

Buy Boyz, Killa Kanz, and 2 KFF Meks. Build a Kan-Wall list.

Get the 6 boxes of boys and a KFF Big mek and a warboss of sorts, the AoBR one is probably the most ideal. On foot Shootas general perform better then Sluggas and if they are on foot they will need that KFF. Also a $15 box for a unit of 10 gretchin is ideal for objective holding so:

Warboss -PK -Cybork -Attack Squig -TL Shoota 115
Big Mek -KFF -PK -Cybork -Attack Squig 135
Ork Boyzx30-Shootas -Nob -PK -BP -Rokkitsx3- 250
Ork Boyzx30-Shootas -Nob -PK -BP -Rokkitsx3- 250
Gretchinx10 -Runt Herder - 40

The AoBR set is nice, you will eventually want 3 koptas with TL Rockits and Buzzsaws, slugga boyz are good in trukks and it's about even with shootas for being in Battlewagons, but the nobz are kinda meh but you could always chop off a hand and add a PK from the boyz box and add a PK and you can have another nob to lead another unit of boyz. Ultimately though for a good start I would go with what I said above. And if you want to round it out to 1k get 3 AoBR deffkoptas on ebay add buzzsaws and that will put the list above at an even 1,000. Put the koptas into 3 groups of 1 and you got some 1st turn transport popping and guys tying them up while you move your main force closer. They will be getting 5+ cover saves and 19 PK attacks on the charge, 6 of those at Str 10 the rest at Str 9.

Big shootas are nice too instead of rokkits but you are kind of lacking some ranged anti tank. If your club is cool with proxing just buy AoBR boyz on ebay for $1 a pop, you can also get a hold of shoota guns then just chop of their arms and glue them shoota arms on will cost about a $1 a pop for them too. Just might need some green stuff for filling in gaps, they don't fit quite as well on all the AoBR boz as they do on the boyz box.

Thanks for the suggestions i had just bought a, aobr ork set, for 20 dollars. I be bolstering the army soon after that. and a ton of painting, ugh. so shootas over choppahs?

Its orks not Nobz in the deff koptas so its Str 7 power klaw attacks on the charge, Str 6 otherwise.

I agree with the big shootas, I run a squad of 30 shoota boys w/3 big shootas and Nob w/PK and BP very brutal, can out-shoot and out-assault most other units.

Shootas are preferable but harder to get hold of? (Everyone has loads of AOBR slugga/choppa boys), simply put the orks don't need the bonus attack from the additional CC where as increased range/shooting is good (and needed given orks BS).

I can pick up some shoota bitz for the, AOBR orks. im sure i can find 20 for cheap. hopefully.

what would work better. killakan wall or a battlewagon spam, more importanntly what would be the over all cheaper option?

I prefer Choppa boyz if they have a transport of any kind. If they're footslogging, Shoota Boyz are cool.
