I am trying to barter with a friend and we are argueing on the retail value of 12 AoBR Nobz. I am saying one put together and painted (well) DE Raider is worth the Nobz but he disagrees saying that 5 Nobz are worth 20-25$. any help?

If I recall correctly with their wargear they are worth 240 points. That is a lot more than a raider.

Nobs are apart of the AOBR set.

Costs for different figures in the set vary, but the figures are significantly less than the going rate for the multipart models with more options.

There is value to them, but the cost varies by trader/buyer.

but lets say you had to price them, then what would it be?

Follow my logic as I buy a lot of ork models:

*When AoBR came out and was everywhere, it was around 60$

*Most people could get it for 48$ from discounters.

*Half a box then makes the Orks part 24$ for 20 boyz, 5 Nobz, 3 Deffkoptaz and a warboss.

*So if there are 5 units there of reasonable size, each one is worth around 5 bucks.

So on average what I see:
*3 Deffkoptas = 7-10$
*10 Boyz = 5$
*1 Warboss 4-5$
*5 AoBR Nobz = 5$

So 12 NOBz would be worth 12$ in my opinion. And I have easily gotten AoBR nobz for 99cents and AoBR boyz for 50 Cents each.

They are still common and all over ebay.

Yeah, the problem with AoBR nobs is that they have none of the options that make nobs worth taking. However, they make pretty good conversions...

A quick perusal of eBay shows Horde O bits selling a 5 nob set for $4.49 buy-it-now. I got a bunch from them on sale for less than that... Anyway, that would be the high end of what I would expect to pay, and I have bought a lot of Orks!

I'm no good at bartering, but what it comes down to is this: what is the value to each of you of the other's item, including the social aspect as well. Its not like you're in some goat market and will never see each other again... so you really need to both barter in good conscience. OK, leaving soapbox now! Good luck!

Also be sure to tell them I won't be getting all the bitz, I will most likely have to strip it and it isn't finished so it's really not "Well painted".

But I was wrong about the AoBR noz I will admit that.

$4.49 for 5 on BIN. The auctions usually go for more like $3.

Were you about to trade a LAND RAIDER for 11 AOBR nobs?

Your friend is an idiot to refuse that deal.

Incidentally, if you buy a normal box of the multipart nobz there are enough useful arms and weapons for 10 nobs, so you can get some of those and add onto the aobr nobs to make them suck less. 'course that assumes you want 20+ nobs.

Anything is cheap on Ebay. Don't trade on Ebay if you want money. Trade on Ebay if you want it gone fast. There is a perception that AOBR should be worth less because the box is a good deal and if you take the cost of that box and divide it up by all the stuff inside, the individual models end up being fairly cheap.

That said, Nobs are a rock-hard unit in-game. I think the models are excellent. The one gripe someone might have is that they don't come with Power Klaws which is really THE big reason to even have Nobs. I converted mine with scratchbuilt Klaws, but just saying.

Most people consider AOBR to be worth less and it will be hard to get a 1 for 1 trade for them online. But someone who recognizes their value in-game might trade a little more in your favor. And wouldn't regret it, I think.

The value is subjective to what a person sees in them. Intrinsically, AOBR Nobs are worth less than out of the box multipart nobs with various options, as Nobs as a whole from the AOBR box are per model cheaper if you take the whole set into account. But if a person wanted just the Nobs, that could raise the value. For someone looking for a well made model, the AOBR Nob is actually pretty decent, also possibly raising the value.

With all the intangibles relative to what a person sees in the value of the mini, the cost is going to fluctuate for it.

Shenanigans... Being good 'in game' does not make them worth more and I am not paying Joe Modeltrade more because of the 'worth' of how my nobs will perform in game. Nobs are a model that are needed in limited supply and they are a model that is plentiful. maybe if they were old limited edition models like an old Gorkamorka Nob then someone would pay more for the value of the mini... but AoBR models like all core box minis have almost ZERO collector value.

Besides the dozens of metal Nobz out there which are still very common, almost every Ork box comes with a NOB torso that can become boy into NOB. The NOB boxed set is 25$, less with discounters and gives you way more flexibility than AoBR nobz.

No... the only reason AoBR nobz exist is to buy a set of the plastic NOBZ, and spend 5$ more to get AoBR Torsos to combine with the extra plastic nobz weapons and heads. So you can get 10 useable NOBZ for 30$ opposed to 50$ by buying two Nob boxes.

Value is relative.
If you want them NOW, and they're the only ones available, they will be worth more to you.

The best we can do is show you what they are going for in readily available places. It's up to each individual to truly assign a value.

Additionally, to see if it's a afir trade, you need to qualify the DE Raider better. What's the paint job like? What edition is it? How well assembled is it? Is it complete? What options does it have?

A poorly assembled, crappily painted OOP DE Raider which is missing the Dark Lance & gunner may very well be worth less than a dozen on sprue AoBR Nobs.

Personally to me about £10 tops but to him they might be worth more. As others have suggested look on eBay. How much is the Raider worth to you? If your not happy with the trade then walk away.
