So after playing with my space wolves for a good year or so now I have begun to get slightly bored of them. I have almost 2000 pts painted and just can't suffer through any more power armor. So I started a new army, Orks. And after browsing barter town I found a good deal on some models and purchased them. And then accidentally 6000 more points of them...

Anywho!

Here is my first TEST ork. Test of course meaning that it is in no way actually finished or that it will reflect how my other ones actually will look.









And I found out that my brother has a snikrot model so I started painting that one up as well. And it's not finished yet either. And I know that his ear is white, it was painted but my brother went ahead and dropped him and the paint chipped off. I'll get back to it later.

I like so far. The red skin looks good and loving the camo. Lets see a finished model. But your off to a good start so far.

A finished model? Well as a matter in fact I just finished the test ork. I am pretty happy with how he came out. I'm liking the red skin a lot, but the arms turned out too dark so I am fixing that on snikrot, also the sword was another test subject and failed. The gun and the back metal plate is what I am going to go for the rusty metalics.

Very cool. Like ya said just dirty up that sword to make it look like the gun and back armor and I think your test model passes. Now the next big question. How are you going to base them? I'm thinking either ash waste lands or urban. Jungle would work also but I dont think desert or snow would fit the model.

Thank you! Yea I was also thinking an ash wastes, mainly because I have to paint and base 130+ models before august and it should be pretty each to do so with having simple bases. And to match with my brother's grey knights.

There are some paint chips, from using him in a game, I have to go over but it's not that big of a deal.

So in my 2000 pt list I have gazzy. Now while I love the model, I hate metal, so I fixed that.

I have some gap filling to do, mainly on the gun arm and maybe around gazzy's head.








This was made from ork bits, AoBR dreadnought, AoBR Deffkoptas and the AoBR warboss.

Very nice Ghaz. I think it was paintedpotato that came up with that first. I made one myself cuz its so freaking cool. I just have to finish my gun arm on mine. Kinda got put on the back burner when I moved. Your Snikrot looks fantastic. Awesome work so far.

So I have got about 11 boys and a nob halfway done so far and once I get the change I'm gonna get some pictures of them. I also competely finished snikrot so he'll get some pictures as well.

Because the color reflected most in the light spectrum in this case was red?

Mushrooms and plants in the wild have many and varied colors. I figured mushroom men in space are most likely going to be more than one color. And I like red.

Almost got a squad of 12 done should get pictures soon if I can get my camera working.

I think the red looks really cool although to make it go even further I would give the Orks a very contrasting colour for there eyes like Blue or Bright Yellow.

That Ghaz. Is so cool I have never been keen on him being metal either..

The only thing about the eyes I that I hate doing them and I have limited time to finish 2000 pts, so I'm cutting corners where they can be cut. So if you can't see the eyes from across the board I am not going to do them.

@schank23: once the tournament these guys are being painted for it's over than I'll most likely do the eyes but I stand by my decision.

Red gore basecoat
Ashuraman blue wash
Red gore highlight
Blood red highlight
Blazing orange highlight
Badab black wash.

I like your ork, maybe a wash on the metals and it'll look good!

Well it started by buying a lot of orks from barter town, than I had a friend who wanted to trade my eldar for his old orks. This do far totaled around 4 to 5000 pts, then my friend wanted me to paint some tanks for him and then I got another 2 or so thousand points. So initial investment off $330 and got 6000 pts of orks, not too shabby.

Finished off 11 boyz and the nob!








































Gonna try and either get my Meganobz or Komandos done next.

My custom Ghaz from the paintedpotato consept is almost ready for paint. Went a little crazy with the gun arm though.

@chank23: Thank you! I feel the problem with most other red skinned orks is that they were too bright. I think darkening it really helps it out. And I too love how the warpaint turned out, it provides the contrast I needed for the orks. Can't wait to see your ghaz!

Alrighty sadly just a text update no pics. I have almost finished my 10 lootas and 10 komandos. I just need to finish a few colors here and there and they should be done. Hopefully I can get them done before Wednesday of next week.

Got my kommandos and Lootas done, now to work on my next 12 guys without a break but man are the results really getting me through...

Kommandos!(Their Skin has camo markings on it that isn't noticeable in these photos but more so in real life, I like how the effect turned out. Also most of the backpacks were greenstuffed by me so they look crappy for a reason.)

Wow, dark red orks are a nice breath of fresh air. I love those converted lootas and commandos! I never thought about orks and riot shields. Some of the loota guns (like the heavy bolter) could use some drilled barrels though, but that is just me nitpicking

That Ghaz looks massive compared to the other orks. Can't wait to see him painted

@kenshin620: Don't worry about those barrels I am going to drill them out all at once so they will look like barrels instead of solid plastic soon. Also the riot shields are not actually finished. When I get to the basing on all the models they are going to get flock on them to look like they are using them as cover, and thank you!

@DAWARBOSS:He is rather big, even when compared to other meganobz. And that is just how he should be! He will get his paint soon, after this batch of boyz he is next! Along with the 4 mega nobz 6 Killa Kanz and hopefully the battlewagon.

Very nice. I love the conversions. But yea the Ghaz I made is about the size of a killa kan. But is your army keeps going the way its going it is gonna be killer looking in battle. keep it up .
