Hey-oh! Name's Grey, and I am new to the 40k scene along with painting mini's. I have attempted my first paint jobs and posted such on my personal gallery. Please feel free, if time permits, to check them out and leave some feedback for me. I am eager to dive more deeply into this but I want to get a tad bit better before I begin painting Blood Angels Battleforce. I just dont wanna ruin it haha. Anyways, Advice is appreciated.

They are looking good except the black spots that I could notice down on the legs. Are you trying for battle damage or worn armor? Because to me it looks more like the paint flaked off.
I'm pretty novice myself, but I can only advise to keep trying- it takes a lot to force yourself to strip and repaint a model but it pays off in the end.
Keep it up!

I dunno if it is the flash or the finish, but they look really shiny. If that is the look you are going for, then it is totally cool. If you want them to be less shiny, you can use something like Testors DullCote. Once misting of that, and they have a flat look. Other than that, good job!

First of all I have a few questions that might help you...
What paint are you using?
Are you thinning them down with water?
What brushes are you using?
Your control with a brush looks great, but if you are using a bad brush then that skill can go straight out the window! Your paint also seems really thick, if you are using citadel paint then that should not happen.
These are the things you need to do
*Prime in white instead of black, so the red will go on better
*Then paint the areas that are meant to be black
*Apply more than one coat of red to give a cleaner sharper look to the armour
*Always thin down your paint pots, with one or two drops of water
*Only do this if they are too thick, and yours are
*Stand back and look at your glorious blood angels army and earn envious looks from other gamers at the store!!!
Hope this has helped!

I've got a couple peices of advice your you.
1st - Prime your models white, it will help to make the red look brighter.
2nd - I wouldn't was these models using Badab Black, instead I would recommend Baal Red.
I'll add some more tips after dinner.

If you prime it with black, dont water it down alot or have too much on the brush,
These are alot better than my first because i painted onto the plastic without giving it a black prime
when you begin start with just dipping your paint brush into the water and then paint, when i first read "water it down", i did way to much and it was a mess :(
Trust me...

Watch her steps on painting a blood angle termie, it is just the same for normal troops so dont worry about it being on a termie ,
she is very good and i followed her tutorial but for imperial fists and was very confident about it, so much i uploaded it as a video response
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijT-U3-7KK8
After this step i went onto perfecting it to what i wanted, and now is completly different and i love it, ( gallery or my vid on killing necron lol) it just takes a little while,
but EVERYONE reaches table-top standerd no prob, just some bad, frustraiting memories

Try adding some hard edge highlights on the red parts of the armor. Either a red and orange 50/50 mix, or a highlight of pure orange - which might be a little stark contrast wise.
Try applying the highlight with the side of the brush, not the tip. This gives you more control over where the paint goes and makes for a much sharper highlight.
Cheers,

I can give you my method for painting red - It's by no means golden demon but its decent tabletop standard if I may say so!
It takes a while but it gets a punchy enough red.
I prime with grey primer. If not white is fine. (actually I prime grey then dust over it with white)
Thin down your paints - like full fat milk
Mecharite red
Mecharite red again
Wash in thrakka green
50/50 mecharite red+blood red, focus away from the recesses/use a big brush and essentially heavily drybrush the area
wash with devlin mud
blood red again focusing on the less deep areas.
baal red wash
highlight with orange/yellow/whatever you prefer.
Metal areas - paint black
Boltgun metal
black/mud wash
highlight chainmail if desired
Purity seals - deneb stone + devin mud, hihglight either pure deneb or else deneb+white
Wax - snot green + thrakka green wash, highlight if desired.
Red gems - I use vallejho 'carmine' as its slighty pink-er than the other reds but gives them a more gem like appearance. (also tastes nicer than foundation paint!)

Thank you for the words of wisdom and advice! I greatly appreciate it. I'm just trying to get better with each mini. Also thanks a lot for the "Blood Angel" red methods. It really helps out for ideas in the future!
