So I have seen there are lots of different companies that want me to buy their army transport cases. It's funny this style of game how much one has to buy to play at venue or even my friends house.

For Hero-clix I bought a few Tupperware bins to hold certain teams and figures it, for Star Wars miniatures I got some Plano boxes and a tackle box to store my army and transport it's needed components from event to event.

40k is quite different. I have seen a huge variety of options but almost all of them require massive hard cases filled with various levels of foam. I have looked at a few of these, a couple from citadel a couple from battle foam, I saw some KR stuff at GenCon last year and a fw others, I think Privateer Press has one too....but anyway...

What is the perfered army transport method and box style?

And what kind of sizes? Obviously it depends on the units, tanks need more foam than Troopers but an assault marine needs more protection than an IG soldier and some species require a bit more flexiabilty in their foam designs to fit nice.

So who likes what and why? I've got gaming dollars ready to be spent but I don't want to waste them.

Oh I currently have SM's and 'Nids if that helps

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

I'm a big fan of battlefoam, not because I think their bags are so much better than other bags out there, but because of their foam trays. They stock a variety of trays for different game systems with precut designs for different types of models. They also have the option for user created custom cut trays. In my opinion, their foam blows away any other precut or pluck foam I've seen.

Foam bags 100% of the way. Your models are fragile, and they need to be held safely. You don't need to get something quite as expensive as Battlefoam; KR Multicase makes great cases for very affordable prices, and Sabol is the standard. Soft foam in cases is the best way to go.

If I were going to drop serious $, I'd probably go with Battlefoam for the sheer customizability of it. It's hard to argue with cavities that perfectly match the items you're putting in them.

It's probably not what you're looking for, but it bears mentioning that, I get protection as good (better actually) than Sabol at a third the cost by making my own cases from Plano 1401 cases and a few sheets of funky foam.

Mine roll in battlefoam trays, packed into a rolling toolbox with an upper toolbox section (for troops) and a bigger lower section with a sliding front-panel (for my Liths/Battlewagons).
