Hi all,

just noticed that on the German GW homepage they published a preview for the White Dwarf coming on Saturday 30th. However there is nothing Necron related at the frontpage, so I guess we will have to wait longer... The lead story is an update of WFB Vampire Counts or something and the first part of the Sororitas Mini Codex. I guess if a Necron Codex came out in August, along with new models and Necron finecast, they would have made this the lead story.

Too bad. :( Luckily I am expanding and painting my Eldar atm, anyway... else I'd be really pissed off now.

Who knows, I'd guess they're just taking a bit longer than usual...

Which is, of course, disappointing of GW

What would you like? A 6th edition release and at the same time ALL codexes and ALL model releases at the same time?

I'd be perfectly happy with a release schedule from GW.

They never tell anyone their release schedule. So what release schedule do we have to be happy about?

Well, there's nothing wrong with wanting a new codex for the oldest current faction...

But you're right, it's good to space it out, actually. It does mean I don't have to buy a new codex every 3 months.

However, I think the general impression is that the spaces in between faction-orientated things such as codices is too far out, eg the Marines codex isn't updated for the next 20 years, but everything else moves along so there's a "new release" of some sort every 4 months. That's not a cool situation.

We'd be happy with a release schedule, if we knew what it was.

Sad to say but you are correct. Thanks to my local shop, i have the white dwarf and Oger kingdoms is in the Aug slot for sure as it is on the back inside cover.

You mean leveling the playing field for everyone at once instead of 3-4 codexes getting bumps 2 years after the release of a new addition and telling everyone else to suck it up?

Why the hell would I want that?

IIRC, the rumor for Necrons was after Halloween, anyhow.

In the absence of reliable information, people treat the rumor mill more seriously. Some will inevitably end up upset about things that were never going to happen. People are foolish for taking rumor too seriously, but there's a lesson here for GW too. You don't stay in control of your message by saying nothing.

I never expected the Sisters update and Necrons to be released at the same time. The next 2 WD will be sisters heavy, so a fantasy heavy edition next before a Necrons special at the very earliest! I make that Nov/Dec.

I would like the codexes all upfront but the models could be released over time and in batches like every 3-4 months one army gets a bunch of new minis and then next another army gets the love etc. I'm not a fan of how GW almost killed fantasy... Release v8 and beastman army book... NOTHING for 7 months! Then O&G's. I think they needed to update all of the army books or at least they need to keep people interested in the game

Seeing as the Ogre's have been confirmed for September now by WD and they were originally rumored to be releasing them in October, I think that its relatively safe to say that we will see the Necrons in October.

I assume you are not playing Necron. People can be disappointed cause GW already pulled the existing models back. I can't buy anything but a single Necron Warrior box from my local game store. I would like to have Immortals as plastic or finecast kits, a bit cheaper than 100 EUR for a unit of 10 models. And much more. This is how people can be disappointed. Geez.

I don't mind waiting for a release, but it would be nice to know what's coming.. maybe not exact models but if they kept a running list on their site for like what's coming this year and when, that would be a huge help to people like me who like to plan ahead for what they're gonna be buying.

But if they did that, people would complain that they don't have the next 2 years figured out instead of 1.

Oh and maybe some occasional blog posts about what the studio is working on, pics of greens or CGI screenshots or whatever. That'd be nice too.

Unsurprising. I'm pretty sure we all knew november anyway, since they're probably going to clone the DE release and try to do the same thing.

Thank you for adding a dose of sanity to this news which isn't news. The current White Dwarf has already been discussed for about a week and there are no indications of new Necrons in it at all. Coupled with the release schedules posted by independent retailers during the past week showing no new Necrons, the fact that there are no Necrons being released in August is already common knowledge. August is mostly Fantasy Battle releases with a few Dark Eldar thrown in, September is primarily SeptOgre. If someone wants to start Necron rumors and not have them squashed immediately they'll have to try for October or November.
